June 3rd 2084, 1PMTo bolster our wounded troops, Evonne Kickingbottom Suzuki has been drafted into duty. She is a French lady with Japanese ancestry who scored well for a rookie in our rifle examination.
A recent visit to the medbay provided me with a startling insight from Honker Bonker – having one med pack on a combat mission is asking for trouble. To this end he has volunteered to exchange his flamethrower for a SMG and add a med pack to his combat loadout.
A review of squad gear identifies that Cognitive Dissonance has developed enough strength to carry a rocket launcher into combat, and a single spare missile. May he use it well.
June 7th 2084, 4.20 AMThe lab has finished its analysis of the fighter UFO. Their main findings are:
1) Whilst the craft is faster than a scout thanks to its larger engines, it is heavier and less manoeuvrable.
2) The craft mounts a single beam weapon under the nose. This weapon will require further investigation once our engineers successfully remove one from the craft in our storage yard.
3) Like the craft, the scout lacks any kind of comms gear. It does appear to have some kind of advanced detection and targeting apparatus which supports a “strike craft” hypothesis. This is further backed up by an absence of landing gear – this craft is not meant to land on the surface
4) The cockpit sits 2 Taman, presumably pilots, and the hold area contains working space for around 3 further aliens, with controls for the engines and weapon systems in the hold area.
5) The speed of these smaller UFO’s seems not to be determined by their engines – instead the limiting factor seems to be fuel. The fighter, like the scout, has a tiny fuel tank which restricts the crafts speed if it wishes to stay in atmosphere for any duration.
Analysis: This craft presents a real threat to our aircraft. It has proven to be deadly in one engagement. However, its limited mission profile will restrict the aliens’ use of this craft.
The labs are now performing an analysis of the large “Harvester” craft – I predict we will learn much from it.
June 13th 2084, 2.20PMAnalysis of the Harvester is complete. Below are the main findings of the lab teams:
1) This craft seems designed to ferry an alien combat team to the surface of the Earth. It has several sturdy legs for landing on, and a set of engines in its underbelly which provide it with a VTOL capability. A large airlock in the rear of the craft allows for large numbers of aliens to be disembarked at once.
2) There appears to be storage areas on a lower deck of the craft for biological material – this is worrying.
3) Towards the front of the lower deck are two rooms – one for engine management, and one apparently devoted to targeting and navigation. The craft is equipped with three forward facing particle beams, similar to those seen on the fighter craft. This is a formidable armament, but not as large as I was expecting on a craft of this size.
4) The craft is capable of impressive speeds despite its mass thanks to quite frankly huge engines, and two antimatter fuel tanks that dwarf those in the smaller craft seen so far.
5) The upper deck houses a piloting bay with 2 of the familiar Taman seats, and enough living space for as many as 10 further aliens. Again, there is no comms gear, and the same advanced EM warfare gear as seen on the smaller craft.
6) The craft is ridiculously heavy – it is armoured beyond what our current weapons can damage meaningfully. This does mean that this craft has little in the way of manoeuvrability, so it will take hits from our SAM sites if it strays close to them.
Analysis: Primarily a dropship for alien ground forces, but also a dangerous aerial opponent. Recommended action is not to engage in the air unless the situation is tactically advantageous.
Honker Bonker, Scriver, Luke and MaxClone alpha have all been discharged from medical care and will be resuming duties shortly.
From what we have seen of the alien craft so far, Dr Branth feels able to draw the bits and pieces into some coherent theory regarding the aliens strategy here on Earth. Before he is allowed to spend time on such wild guesses I have ordered the dismantling of the damaged spider robots obtained in Nigeria.
