((Wait, does it bloom at all? Because if it did, it may actually work better for slashing as it takes longer for the target to fully pass through the heated area (plus it would be harder to dodge it). Seeing as that area would be larger though less intense.))

((So, wouldn't it just be a rather wide laser with variable blooming? Seeing as if it's purely technological and only the length of a broadsword, its blooming would actually be rather significant and it would be less of an edged weapon (thankfully, seeing as they're supposed to cut things and make them bleed rather than cut things and cauterize the wound) and more of what is functionally similar to a compact, high temperature plasma emission device?))
