<The supernatural, until recently, was considered by the general public to be an escapist domain of occultist babble and fictional texts. Our world is based on numerical power, democracy via voting, conflict via armies or silos of ballistic missiles. The difference with magic and its limited proliferation is, it threatens the balance. It gives power, often unique, to individuals. That causes significant issues, especially because none of our infrastructure was ever created with consideration to such matters.

Furthermore, humanity has always had a fear of the unknown. They couldn't even tolerate others with different genetic traits until relatively recently and there are still issues associated with that. Now you implicate eldritch entities beyond current human understanding, far more obscure then most matters in this age of information technology. This may be considered a retrogression back into some of humanity's earliest centuries, once again fearful of the dark and what lies beyond the horizon, only now it's the supernatural world. Such a calamitous issue is bound to cause unease. Well, for some at least.

Also, the recent magical firefights that have recently occurred at cosplay conventions aren't the most reassuring events either.>

<On top of all that convoluted mass of capricious turmoil, you in addition have some of the largest religions in the world challenged by the fact that someone is claiming to be the divine creator they spoke of. Which is causing significant issues when their traditionally benevolent and anthropomorphically male who is against homosexuals turns out to be a female mass murderer who is indeed homosexual and capable of backing herself with evidence by providing the specific contents of their prayers. The fact that she is remotely human is a troublesome matter in itself for the faiths as if my knowledge is correct, which I cannot guarantee it is, then she may in fact be violating the first section of the Moreh Nevuchim.>

When religions tend to be so rooted in ritual and tradition alike? Yes, not everyone will believe her, but some will and the fact that she can provide evidence to her divinity makes the situation far from negligible.>
