Will glances around.
"Everyone here? Good."
He pulls out a...device, blocky but roughly ring-shaped, perhaps 20 centimeters across, with a smallish, roughly arm-shaped protrusion from the middle of the ring.
"As you know, the bracelets we all have allow us to talk and enter each others' minds. But how? To figure this out, I looked to the origins of the bracelet, considered the workings of it. Basically, they send mental signals. When they were first made, Selina was reinforcing Angel's thoughts that were resisting the shape-changing. Slightly more recently, we began sending signals to each other purposefully, for communication. When we enter each others' minds, we simply send and receive signals from that person's brain, much like the server for an online video game or somesuch. Hence the inspiration for this."
Will slips a spare, custom-made bracelet onto the "arm" of the server.
"They only work on sentient creatures, of course, but they can be entirely artificial or magically-created creatures. They can even be computers. Moreover, just because it's 'sentient' doesn't mean that it actually thinks. I made a pseudosentient computing device, smart enough for the mind bracelets but not capable of independent thought. It can also be programmed. At the moment, if you head there you'll find yourself in a featureless grassy field under a blue sunless sky; I haven't had much time to make it look nice. But it can do oh-so-much! I'm imagining that future servers could have a variety of features, up to and including video games and entire virtual worlds! But that's not all..."
Will placed a ring on the thumb of the "arm," before handing more out to the others.
"These rings are basically purpose-built bracelets, allowing access to the server and essentially nothing else. It also sanitizes the output, allowing for the aforementioned potential video games to not be ruined by mind-hackers or somesuch. Each one includes a series of little dials hidden under the outer casing, allowing them to be set to specific settings--e.g, these are all set to setting 1, which is this server here.
"The possibilities for this are endless. I'm sure I haven't even thought of half of 'em. I can only imagine what we could do with this."
"Any questions?"
