"*sigh* I really don't know how to react any more. Annie was definitely in the wrong, myself as well. However, Ashley's overreaction was of an inexcusable magnitude. To present someone as a flat caricature of a supposed raison d'etre she never even possessed is far too cruel..." Cyrielle writes down her address, exact coordinates of residence, telephone and mobile phone number on a piece of paper before leaving.

She books the next flight out. "For what it's worth, thanks. However, this capricious, volatile environment is not something I want to be involved in. Goodbye Richard."

Richard suddenly looks more somber.

"Why not? I've left my contact details and still have my bracelet. Contact me if my services are required."

"Because then I'd be left with these bunch."
Richard sighs and looks around.
"I'm only even here because I have to protect the only real family anywhere in the multiverse I have left, Alistair and Maria. And Camille joined us.

If I could just abandon everyone, I would have by now. I nearly did.

Then you came along and I found someone else who knew what I knew.

I have very few friends, Cyrielle. Even less good ones. And you're one of the good ones."

[Empiricist]

"I'll keep in touch. If I am as good of a friend that you say I am, then I can remain so from a distance. My moral code is half a spectrum blacker than what is expected from these characters, my character sheet recycled from something both Faustian and Stygian in tone. I still have my life, my free will and my soul, I should be thankful of that alone. Perhaps you are held here by emotions and honor. I have no such connections, hence it should be understandable for me to leave."

Richard stands up.
"Well. I suppose I can't stop you, can I?"
He sighs, before giving Cyrielle a hug.
"Be seeing you around, I suppose."
He walks off, dejected.

"Likewise. 馬鹿~" It seemed more wistful and sentimental than it's usual teasing, snarky delivery. The outfit and the feline features drop in a neat pile next to Richard. And with that, Cyrielle leaves. An apology note rests besides Annie, noting that if life there becomes too irritating, she, and her family would happily welcome her and Wheatley.

Richard sits on a bench alone, sighing.

One less friend he could count on.

And one more person who'd pissed him off.

Cyrielle hails a taxi and returns to her hotel suite before packing up her possessions. She takes out a phone.
"Hello?"

"Yes, it's me. Just calling to tell you that I'll be cutting this vacation off early."

"No, there's nothing wrong, I simply no longer have a purpose to travel with the invasion over... I probably overstayed my welcome with a few people as well."

"Yes, I guess I'll be seeing you two soon."
...
"Heh, of course I'll take care. Bye."
Cyrielle smiles again, slightly. A rather bitter smile but a genuine smile nonetheless.
