((Ah, right. That explains the former.))
Cyrielle finishes packing, she still has a day or so since the earliest available flight didn't leave immediately, so she takes out her phone and opens up a document. She summarizes it out loud through her bracelet to Richard.
[To: Richard] <Well, I might as well get character arc material out of the way. So, now I've figured out the exact nature of my ability and the what it comes from: my ability is theurgy rather than actual magic.
The distortions I summon reveal the fate of the universe: to fade into nothingness. Such an event is impossible due to the existence of Demons Run, thus making the required time infinite. However, to Fate, infinity is actually a finite, discreet value. Hence despite how futile it's attempts to accelerate this impossible process seems to be to most sentient entities, Fate itself still views it as progress. Hence, I have been endowed with the ability to call upon it's power since I had sufficient levels of the underlying nihilism and pragmatism it decided would be useful to further it's goals.
My abilities remove energy outright and contribute to the progression towards an impossible future that is infinite eternities away. That future is what distortions show. Absolute nothingness. In that state of the universe, not even the universe itself exists. Nothing exists. Or rather, nothing itself does not exist either. It is the absence of everything and thus the absence of itself. Yes, I did copy and modify this from a PM.
Annie and Wheatley are different. They have the actual power rather than merely the capability to call upon it, hence they are essentially now aspects of Fate itself in physical form. Destruction is a mere setback that is recovered with time and their control over distortions are much higher than that of mine.
Done. There is everything @Empiricist ever had planned out for me. Now I can move on with my life and remotely help you with yours.>
