Alucard hesitates a moment before speaking:
 "Do you know what I fear..? I fear that I failed my family, letting them die... I fear that I failed my own daughter, and I fear that I have failed others too...myself included. I feared the unknown before wandering it for fifteen thousand years and I feared for my own sanity--but what little sanity I have left I hold onto because I now have friends that support and care for me, like Samson. And you."

Ashley does a small nod, staring off into the distance at nothing in particular.

"Care for those that care for you, Ashley. Always love your daughter and always be there for her, for you never know when you will never see her again," he says before doing the same. This is the most that she had ever heard Alucard say.

"I'll see her for as long as she decides to live for. She's a Voidwalker. It's our nature."

Alucard lets out a chuckle and lays back against the stone of the Gate.
 "It always comes down to mortality in the end, does it not? Back then when Jacque killed Zhengara, I could sense Bartimaeus's fear--his genuine fear when he saw, knowing that one day, that will be his fate. And perhaps mine too," he says as he stares at the sky.

"You know what the job of a Voidwalker is, correct? Not the type of voidwalker that you are, but my kind."

"I do not."

"We bend the rules. Every rule, whether known or unknown--"
Ashley summons her Mordite sword, the blade part appearing like a fractured black crystal, and absorbing light around it.
"This is Mordite. It is the concentration of the very essence of the void. This- This shouldn't be possible to make in Creation, yet here it is. Some of the most powerful of void beings cannot conjure this."

"Then how is my magic capable of existing in Creation? To completely bypass one of the most powerful forces conceivable--the Wall of Stars? The void's sole purpose is to harm Creation--that explains how you are able to convert an entity to the void, but not the other way around. That in itself is bending the laws, yet I am not a Voidwalker. How is it that Bartimaeus is able to change his form, magic, personality, voice, and even the way he thinks? And do that within Creation, where he should not even be able to exist?"

"Simply, void can exist in Creation for a short time. Bartimaeus can exist longer since he is connected to you. And purely because of certain void-beings and their nature, they may change to how they see fit. Your magic is very short term, as opposed to say, my Mordite blade. Sure, mine still has a limited amount of time to be used, but it lasts longer because of my nature. I don't quite know well enough why Nodoka and I are how we are. Perhaps because we were both human before, and now have turned into Voidwalkers. It's... odd."
Ashley shrugs.

"There are void entities that can remain in Creation forever, such as the Akrhobal. Unassisted."

Ashley cracks a smile.
"Then he's either part Creation and not pure void, or he's connected to someone of Creation."

"It is also one of the most dangerous void entities I have ever heard of. It infects a forest and take over the plants. Any who touch its sap become wood zombies. There is also an entity of Targunitoth that is a walking zombie apocalypse," he says with a chuckle.
