 "It is what makes up entities of essence, such as Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus's soul is scattered and more free-flowing, and takes the form of essence which is usually liquid form. Entities of essence are able to shapeshift this way; they manipulate it to their will, and are also able to cast special spells with it," he says before rummaging under his desk. He pulls out a jar and places it on the desk--inside the jar appears to be a cloudy liquid which floats around the jar as if it were both a liquid and a gas. It has blue and green swirls about it.

 "That is pure essence. A part of Bartimaeus, actually."

"Okay. But... Could you do something for me first?" She asks, blushing slightly.
