Whilst it is perfectly understandable, and you are within your rights to do so, I would recommend that you have the filter ignore specific signals, hence allowing those signals to be used to notify you in emergencies. Otherwise, the only way to inform you of such would be to contact the people who are not blocked, which may be rather unreliable.
