Species have gone extinct and forests have been cut down and oceans have been polluted, and that is a fact. They see nothing wrong with that, earth is there for their convenience. The same majority that sais that destroying the environment is bad, then take their petrol fueled car to work at a butchers shop that serves mass procuded beef and during the break have coffee that comes from a field that used to be rainforest a few years ago. They can claim as much as they want, the sheer inconvenience that would come with holding up to their "believes" keeps them from doing so."

"And as people realize what they're destroying, things are changing. A hundred years ago, there were no national parks. Fifty years ago, people weren't tracking endangered species. New laws protecting the environment, more consumer awareness programs, non-profit organizations like the Forest and Marine Stewardship Councils...the future is looking up for the environment. And people would care even more if they knew about your kind. Say, speaking of which, is that enclave in a forest being logged or something else...photogenic like that?"

No one's going to take the Fingerlings seriously, especially since you're a lot bigger than fingers. 'Environment the Fingerlings need to survive. And think what else could be destroyed.' That doesn't help us spread around the world as equals, it would only encourage the pet-market. And that is dangerous. Living a life as some sort of exotic, rare novelty pet will put a monetary value on our lives. Eventually we will be captured and sold to rich spoiled children, and for the rest of our lives we are nothing but entertainment, while being forced to survive of a mixture of gelatine and connective tissue that is so worthless as food that it would kill us if they didn't add in artificial vitamins."
