So don't give me crap about my cause being evil and cause being noble. Your lives don't value over alien lives either. You defended yourself, and had the right to do so. We are defending ourselves, and have the right to do so. The difference is that you are more successful."

"Maybe after you apologize for trying to get Meme to drink beer? And ideally for killing forty people for accidentally wandering into your completely invisible settlement?"

I might not always stick to the truth, but it is my heartfelt conviction that the right thing was done, and I can not lie about this, not even if it would be to my own defence. If I died how would I stand in front of those who have lost their lives to the giants cruelty? How would I stand in front of my brothers at arms that have given their lives to the defence of our kind. I have sworn to give my beating heart to our defence, I would not betray my pledge just to get an apology for being picked up by the tail. Will can go and do whatever. He doesn't know any better."

"Are you trying to get me to throw you out of the yard? Because I'm very tempted. I know better than killing people just because they wander into an unmarked, invisible settlement. I know that there are other options--sedation, for instance, or physical barriers, or marking where your settlement is with some kind of sign, but nooo, you must KILL the suspicious number of people to come across your settlement. And anyone who complains about your murders is being speciesist." In case it isn't obvious, that last part was sarcastic.

"Now, I think the problem is the good dame claims to have killed fourty people?"
Nancy studies Hainuwele with an enigmatic gaze.

"And that she is completely adamant about it being ^{the only way we cute little people could survive the evil blundering giants who accidentally visit this random little patch of Outback in numbers which are not suspicious at all so don't look into them!}"
This last part was said in a mocking high voice. Will must be running low on ways to express his irritation.

"The problem is, that picking me up by the tail, casting aside the humiliation, is dangerous. It can very well tear off, resulting in crippling injury."

"I think I can tell how to pick someone up without ripping off their tail. You're light, your bones and muscles can handle it. And, frankly, you could use a little humility. And by 'little' I mean 'lot'."

"And that was just in a reaction to me suggesting he should leave Meme to her own devices."

"Should I apply this same logic to everything, and let Meme play with knives, guns, and poison?"

"This is the problem, this utter disregard, the ignorance, the feeling that anything he can do is entirely alright as it is, just because he is big enough to do it. Would it be alright to pick up Meme by her tail? What about dangling Marie by her tentacles?"

"The difference is, little missy, that you seem to think the whole world revolves around you and your species, and that anything they do to the giants is justified. Anything we do justifies it more, in your mind. I'm sure that if I was nice, you'd consider me subservient and a natural servant to the little folk or something like that--certainly not an equal, deserving of respect.

I kill witnesses, as unfortunate as it is, to make sure that people like Will, never set food on our lands. He is the danger that we can not allow into our midst, he and all those who who disregard the small. Our lives and health value as much as a giants, and when it is justice that will wants, then he should start *counting*."

"I value Meme's health, which is why I will not let strangers coerce her into drinking alcohol. And have you considered that killing giants is not the best or only way to get them to not come onto your land?
"And as to your point...well, it's funny you mention that. By the way, does anyone know if Ashley is in town?"

"B-boasting? I merely explained my previous successes to those who believe that my kind can't hold a towel to their overwhelming strength and size."

"A thousand bees can bring down a drunken bear cub. No one denies that there are situations where the little people can defeat the big...but this is not one of them."

"No, have you not been listening at all? I have, the entire time, claimed that they are equal. So we sacrifice few, to save the lives of many."

"And you can't think of any nonlethal methods? Your people are stupid. They deserve to be imprisoned as the murderers they are."

"We have killed less humans in decades than humans have killed in just a few days."

"Your claims inflate every time you are asked. Moreover, they inflate in opposite, contradictory manners. Why should we believe a word you say?"

"A single tourist reporting his findings can become the start of an unstoppable wave. People will no longer accidentaly stumble upon us, they will seek us out, out of sheer curiosity.

"But you know what? You will then be protected by law. Anyone who killed a little person would be subject to the sae punishments as those who killed a 'giant'. ^{But no, something like that would be dangerous! Because giants are all idiots who hate little people!}"

And then what? We welcome them, and just wait until one day, because of sheer ignorance for our lives, someone who had a bit of a drink decides it would be fun to kick our houses down? Until a child is bored with the sigh seeing and begins pulling our tails?

"I've noticed something about national parks. They don't let alcohol or unattended children in. Moreover, once more, anyone who did that would be a criminal. Notice how our streets are remarkably empty of dead bodies and destroyed houses? We care about laws."

Or do we drive them away? Do we raise our blades oppenly against them, and await their retaliation, that would spell our end?

"What does it say about your people that you cannot think of any solution that doesn't involve violence?"

"Moreover, if your secrecy is so important, why did you come here, and why did you tell me, of all people, that your home is in a national park?" Without waiting for an answer, Will heads inside and begins looking for locations in national parks that have had long strings of unusual deaths, thefts, and other such evidence.

Spoiler: Why Will should be able to find the Fingerlings' Home (click to show/hide)

1. He knows it is in a national park.
2. Hai heavily implied that the location was suffering from human attacks for over a century, probably with the settlement originally existing for centuries. Certainly, that's a long enough history to track...
3. ...at least one murder a year, on average. Even one unusual death/disappearance every two years near one location would be unusual.
3. In addition, Hai made it clear that much of the fingerlings' technology was scavenged from humans. Unless they ranged across the continent to grab it instead of stealing iPods and cell phones from nearby people, this should provide additional hints.
4. Even if it's glamoured from human sight, there would be other hints of the unusual characteristics of their enclave. For instance, an area that should be more fertile, due to geology and rain and such, but is just as barren as the rest of Australia. And that's assuming the enclave's glamour works on satellites.
5. Hai came to Northdale. This means that he can start his search in nearby national parks, and if he finds no obvious clues in any of those, go to farther, less probable parks. But, realistically, Hai wouldn't have walked across the whole continent if she could just fight crime in a nearby city.
6. He is Will. His power will let him draw connections between odd things most people overlook.

He walks through the back door and away.

Sen chants something quietly and [10+93] reseals the demon influence. a dark shadow appears around the fireball on Will's shoulder. "I feel better at least. I will be following you if you head anywehere to keep watch on if the seal breaks."
