Several spells without targeting vectors (such as blood manipulation and whatnot) continue hitting him while progressively more spells are added to the barrage. In a single small neighborhood, there were at least five magic users. Stanford probably has a few more. The security guards continue firing. Everyone starts backing away, giving a clear shot.

Several dozen strange creatures rise out of shadows all across the room. Each of them seems to be made of some sort of black goop, huge yellow eyes glowing on the upper portion of their heads. Below these, their heads appear to be simply flat black until they open their mouths, wherupon they seem to almost split in half, revealing massive, pointed, carnivore teeth as they leap at the painted soldiers, tearing into them viciously.

A black-haired woman stands in the doorway of the hall, eyes narrowed. "Evacuate calmly until the authorities arrive!"

The megaphone guy gets painted but the other one is just fine. He drops the dipper and turns to the lady.
"Look lady, we... I am the authorities for this type of thing! And that guy just made me. Really! Angry!
The man rips off his shirt and his type of magic becomes clear. His magic bends reality around him into action movie chlihes.

More magic bolts and bullets hit him. In their panic, the security guards give up on accuracy and unload at him.
More magic bolts strike him.
A distortion beam fired from near him is aimed in an attempt to rip apart his skull.

The woman makes a gesture, shadows around her rippling slightly before the creatures charge the painting that seems to be causing this mess, diving at it, shadowy forms possibly even passing into it depending on the nature of the painting magic. If not, they simply tear it to pieces.
