I don't know. It would be improbable for them to be able to get trained to play football so is it that far of an assumption that it can be assumed they were trained to throw with their mouths?
It's not training, it's mechanics. Humans are unusually competent at throwing things, because throwing rocks and spears meant we died less. Bears have had no such selective pressure for their mouths.

If we're arguing mechanics then how are bears being trained to play football at all? Bears have had no selective pressure to play football.

Then the answer is to apply selective pressure for them to play football whilst remaining bearish.

Selective pressure as in ancient times' evolution, not as in modern training. You can theoretically train a bear to do anything it is physically capable of doing. Throwing a ball with its mouth, or even holding the ball in its mouth without severely damaging it? Not physically possible.

I'll soon post my new plan once that fight has been resolved. Idealy, my plan should allow for us to take out at least 3 of the bombers without *any* fight, giving us a 60% chance of taking out the bomb instantly. Wether all 5 can be taken out depends a *lot* on how the first wave of attack goes
Hopefully it isn't impeded by some hot-headed demon taking a jet and ramming it into an enemy bomber.
Also, please share the plan. IC ideally, but OOC works too.

Nuriel already taking one bomber down would be great, that increases our chances to take out the bomb a lot. Though I *seriously* doubt that you will be able to do so. The damage the jets deal is just too big to just fight our way through. In fact, please secure the jet, so we can repair it at our base, and remove tracing chips and what not, so it can actually become part of my plan.

My plan is, so the analysis of the jets goes promising, to use the one advantage we have, aimed directly at the jets two biggest weaknesses.

a) Our advantage: We are very small and very mobile. We care even less about aerodynamics or inertia. Even with these high-tech jets being kind of extremely mobile, we can do manouvers they can not do theirselves, and that more importantly, nobody would anticipate, as without teleportation, it's a suicide manouver.

b) their first weakness:
Quote from: avatar
The way I had it figured, Toruk's the baddest cat in the sky. Nothing attacks him. So why would he ever look up? That was just a theory.

This is the radar coverage of an erieye, the most modern, specialised early warning airborn radar. It's a highly specialised tool to spots threats *long* before they arrive at the target.

Notice something? That's right, directly above it, it's blind. When coming in from above, there is no warning. Of course I am aware that several radars do cover eachothers blindspots, but this is where a) and c) come into play. a) because these radars are mostly dependant on surface area. The smaller the target, the weaker the feedback, and the shorter the distance, and the closer we have to be to be spotted. c) later. Let us also no forget that the coverage only slowly increases over distance. Unless each bomber is 100km apart from eachother, they will mostly *share* they blindspot upwards, until we are already very close - and then it is too late. Additionaly, keep in mind that the erieye is a *highly* specialied aircraft. It's not a bomber, it's not a fighter, it does nothing but look out for things. Bombers and fighters have *significantly* worse coverage, especialy above them. I really see no reason at all other than the GM not wanting the bombers to be downed by clever thinking and planning and just by sheer stat-grind and weak-long dice orgies for these fighters and bombers to have coverage directly above them

c) they have human pilots, with human reaction times. Our form of attack will make use of that. Since we will be attacking from the bombers blindspots, the only radars that can spot us, maybe 1-2 seconds before our assault, possibly even less, will be the ships actually furthest away from the assault. These guys have to, in order, notice us on their radar, which is hard, as our blips will be overlayed with the bombers blips, and since we are smaller, will be much smaller blips too, he will then have to actually interpret and understand what this weird signal means, he then has to input the right frequency for the bomber in question, and then tell them what is going on. The bomber pilot then has to understand what is being said, and take evasive manouvers. All of that takes time, and is usualy no problem, as the target comes from the sides or the ground, where they have excellent coverage and ar warned well in advance.

So this is how we will take advantage of it:

Bartimaeus, who can become very small and thus unnoticed by the enemy radar, gets into position above the bombers, where ICARUS, HILDA and Winry teleport in, possibly alongside Kyle, if he can manufacture something useful beforehand. Each of them picks a bomber then, and straight from above, accelerates a ton to divebomb them, each mostly in their own way, aiming straight for the weakest part, the cockpit. ICARUS would fire up both her sword and her cyclonic barrier to extreme levels and do to the cockpit what she usualy does to people - obliterate it in a very self-destructive manner in a single attack. The sword will only have to cut through the glass - and pilot, the cyclonic barrier does the rest. It does not just block things, it slaps things out of the way violently. When powered up enough, and when rammed into a cockpit at huge speeds, it can be used quite offensively, ripping the entire cockpit to shreds, while at the same time keeping ICARUS relatively safe from harm. I say relatively, she will likely still take more than enough damage that she can't attack a second time. If the damage is managable, she will first teleport home before hitting the water, use one of the spare batteries, and then teleport straight back to Bartimaeus to see if another dive would be feasible. HILDA I guess would probably turn into her alpha form right before the impact, and her her huge size and mass to giant-mecha-elbow-drop the enemy cockpit, then teleport out, and possibly back in for a second wave. Winry could technomance some sort of javelin rocket or something, possibly a second one for a second assault, who knows. Kyle may or may not come in and drop all sorts of explosives, I am not sure.

This at least has a decent chance of taking out the bomber with the seraphim bomb on it, without actually subjecting us to a fight against 5 bombers and 5 jets, when already 2 jets managed to take 4 of us out. The only damage we will get is the one inflicted upon ourselves, the enemy does *not* have the reaction time to adequatly answer to an ambush of that kind. Should we be unlucky and not hit the bomber with the bomb on it, the rest of us can still come in and engage the enemy fleet in combat, concentrating their fire on the remaining bombers. It plays our advantages and their weaknesses to the maximum. I call it operation Damocles

I dunno. I fear she may be too slow for that kind of attack. But as I said, if the initial attack does not get the bomber with the seraphim bomb (5 bombers, one bomb, there some luck involved here), Stella, Nuriel, Spooky and who else is there may still attempt to get it. ICARUS will likely be too damaged to continue the fight, doesn't mean the others can't clean up after the initial ambush

That's a good plan.

Oh jeeze, I hope Sanure's online because I need to ask him a lot of questions

How many fighters and bombers are there? What formation are they in?

I think the bomber squad had 5 bombers and 5 fighters, and then there were 10 more squads with 10 fighters each, something like that

Especially since the jets are moving pretty fast.

But the radar blindspot might work if the jets use mundane tech. I don't think they use magic.

sanure specificaly said that they do move slower than normal jets in one of the first posts where the fleet appeared. Also, they are fucking huge. Twice as big as a normal F15. Unless they are actively dodging, they are going to be hit. The problems are how much damage you deal to yourself in the meantime, and that it is more or less only a slightly better chance than a toincoss on wether or not the first wave of the assault actually hits the right bombers. It's not unthinkable that if we start a second wave of attack, that there will be counter measures, and considering the damage we take in the process, counter measures are deadly. Likewise even if the non-dive bombers like Stella come in, there's still 5 jets protecting the bombers. All 5 of them concentrating fire on stella would desintegrate her. If this assault is not successful, I'm running low on ideas. They won't leave their blind spot unguarded a second time, and we won't have quite the time to regenerate enough to attack them in a more traditional manner a second time.
