So last week was quite stressful and all these other weeks I've generally been either depressed or stressed also. It's spring break for me though so I guess I'll jump back in and do Mal stuff. Or I could make a new character since I've been playing too much SMT 4 and Persona haha. Iunno, whatever, someone just tell me to do something.

So would my character get just one persona or would he have the ability to get more personas (or maybe be like SMT and have him talk to enemies and recruit them)? Oh, and is an Evoker needed?

Only one persona, I believe, but an Evoker would be pretty damn cool to have.

Right up until an enemy with an ability facilitating sleight of hand replaces it with a loaded gun.

I approve of this idea! I'd appreciate it being applied retroactively!

elf could balance out by making the random a bit biased, and rerolling to give weaker perks to stronger abilities

Exactly why I haven't touched the power=ability balance. Also, keep in mind half the Persona skill set is passives/buffs/debuffs.

And they're limited.

it's entirely okay to have weaker perks on people with stronger abilities.


just a few fun perks won't make much a difference anyway, if Elf hands them out responsibly.

Also, Kyle doesn't seem to take only half damage compared to everyone else. In fact, Kyle seems to have taken the exact same amount of damage as others if I remember right.

Oh, I would think that Freud would have just argued that pantomiming capping yourself in the head ought to summon your Id as the action has a connection to your Id's Death Drive and then you'd end up with a horrific mass representing your Id rather than a persona.

Then Persona users would be behind in power anyway; eventually it would reach a point where Persona users would pretty much be always weaker than magic users, which isn't how it's supposed to be.

At the moment, it's balanced so Persona users get a random ability, of which the pool is half debuffs/passives/buffs and are slightly more powerful, but fall hard to the things they're weak to and aren't as versatile as a magic user, Anima and certain cripplingly specialized mages notwithstanding.

Yes, because Kyle switched from earlier magic use and actually crafted the armor long before using a Persona. Also, Kyle is about the only character who even has those; Richard, the other one, DOESN'T have such advantages, and no other character with a Persona would, unless they decided to start making armor themselves.
