No mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not be so hideous as that wretch. I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then, but when those muscles and joints were rendered capable of motion, it became a thing such as even Dante could not have conceived.
The Past - The Modern PrometheusThe Peripeteia - The Monster Who Walks Amongst MenRather than yielding or resisting, his creator proposed an alternative: that he dress himself in a manner to conceal his nature, to excuse his attire as a mechanism for hiding a deformity and to interact, in what limited regard he could, with humanity rather than an Eve. To be an outsider yet still be freed from the tormenting oppression of isolation. Accepting the offer and receiving funding from his creator, the Creature vanished. Through fiscal means, he amassed a wealth of knowledge and though not entirely accepted, drifted around the world, winning what little company he could with his intellect and articulation. It was not the Paradise he had once hoped, yet it was nevertheless better than the Pandaemonium he had requested. He would do so through the decades, until with time and the accompanying change, the nature he appreciated began to falter under humanity's folly. And so, when the opportunity presented itself, the opportunity to apply his skills, to be unknown yet able to seek the company of many, to protect the remnants of nature's beauty and to raise his muted joy into a paroxysm of contentment, he took it.
The Present - The Phantom of Wall StreetTales tell of the denizen, the elusive billionaire who, in spite of his wealth, has seemingly no residence aside from the stock market itself. Gathered from the reports of the rare persons fortunate enough to see him, the following description has been compiled:
A featureless visor veils his face. Of note is that, like the tooth of a colossal beast, the visage is vaguely transparent in parts but mostly stained by an enamel-white tint, which, spreading from its densest point at the centre possesses a decreasing coloration gradient that varies in steepness towards the edges with a slight but certain degree of capriciousness. From what little glimpses the semi-translucent edges offer, a stygian material with a composition akin to the finest of velvets may be observed, serving to both pad the rigid mask and further cast his face further into the obscure depths of mystery.
Though unbeknownst to the few witnesses of the figure, the meticulously constructed object facilitates the comforting shroud of anonymity yet allows both wind and sunlight alike to be felt upon the face’s skin as if it were bare. Barely visible, the hazy forms of pearl white teeth of his lower jaw may occasionally become observable when his lips utter in the richly refined yet powerfully rumbling baritone that he addresses others by.
Below, in contrasting hues exists a three-piece suit, the jacket is of a soft black which help offset the cold metallic scintillations of sleeve buttons along with the crisp brightness of the handkerchief that was placed inside the breast pocket and soft gloves that cover his hands. Of great peculiarity is the boutonnière that resides upon a peaked lapel.
Rather than consisting of a single flower, the decoration is an amalgamation of the components from an array of flora. The less prominent components are derived from leaf shreds of socotrine aloes and brambles, wrapped thinly with twin spirals of common daffodil and heath stems and tied with the protrusion of a king’s spear. Of greater salience is the combination of the petals from angelicas, currants and wood-sorrel into a compound entity with minute leaves of peppermint and mugwort extending from behind.
From below, the shades of the garment are continued by the trousers that in a similar manner to their upper counterparts, counteract the silver glint of an elaborate belt buckle and the pitch black yet glistening leather shoes that rest below. A decadently chestnut brown waistcoat and a dark grey tie with mercurial grey and cobalt blue stripes help alleviate the otherwise sharp juxtaposition between the jacket’s darkness and the radiant white of the underlying dress shirt.
Finally, a shadow-like opera cape billows behind the rest of the attire, matching the unusually large attaché case held by the eidolon of matching size at all times.
His agenda is as famous as his economic brilliance. It is known that he is both a Romanticist and an environmentalist from his rather occasional but undoubtedly monolithic monetary contributions. A philanthropist and a philosopher from the hauntingly beautiful arias sometimes heard in the dead of the night. In short, a gentleman and a scholar.
