How would it be of note if it, and presumably all buildings "a fair distance from the explosion" were abandoned afterwards? And how were the security cameras destroyed without being, you know, obvious?

People rushed to see what was happening or outright ran, after all, people generally don't get on with their lives after a nearby terrorist attack. The explosions took place inside the cameras, so only the people viewing them would have noticed and shortly afterwards the explosions took place.
