I'd imagine the police would give it a short consideration because of wills fame, but then realise that
- there is no proof to his accusation
- there are no bodies to be found
- happened likely outside of their jurisdiction
- there is no international warrant
- she also ran around city all day capturing criminals and giving medical attention to people with accidents
- at best they would do the only thing they legaly can, hold her for 24 hours, and then drop the case, because all that is raised against her is a simple accusation. if that was enough to start an investigation, then the legal system would have serious problems.
but I will leave that to Elf
anyway, while I am tired of pointing it out again and again, when a human appears behind the glamour, there is always the question that remains "will this be the one who marks our end?". You may call it overly paranoid, but for a civilisation that has gone through enough terror through humans, that is a valid concern. Even if the chance is small, who wants to be that made the decision to leave the human go away in piece, and then see the events unfolds in the negative. The potential damage is too large to make a gamble like this.
remember, viewpoint is key. For a humans point of view, that is a terrible thing to do, but for a fingerling, it is an act of sheer desperation for survival. for a human, a single guy who drunk a few too many beers is a laughing matter, for a fingerling, it's a tsunami that can wash the city away. And look at human society, and tell me that people getting drunk and then doing horrible stuff, or a child that simply does not realise what he is doing is a bad thing is a rare exception that you can guarantee will never ever again. Making the location known will attract more and more attention, and more and more people will come, and for each and every one of these, you have to ask yourself the question "could this be the one?"
what kind of government, entrusted with the lives of an entire race, would take this kind of risk?
they are not killing people for fun or malice, they are trading few lives to save many. as I said, a single bad egg can spoil the entire cake. it's a question of responsibility to make harsh choices.
