Alright. Having calmed down over errands and dinner, I will provide my thoughts over what's happened before catching up and getting worked up again.
Firstly, a fun fact. When you get into a heated discussion, your adrenal glands activate. Adrenaline shuts down/reduces the amount of function in your higher brain functions so more energy can be spent on dealing with the danger. Higher brain functions are vital to critical thought and arguments not devolving. What is this
Intelligent Design you speak of?
And now onto important stuff.
Will might have been a bit too...zealous, but he has a pretty major point.
Cyrielle and the others either didn't plan enough, or needed to share their plans better. I had this image of a magically-powered automaton running magically, with regeneration, distortion bones, and all that. Some of those were features that had been scrapped (but Cyrielle did not mention this), others were simply implied by, say, the lack of fuel or electricity needed and completely wrong. Her insistence on following Luna's desires was also infuriating. Yes, it's nice to have friends, but you're allowed to tell them no, especially when they're asking for less safeguards that would stop her from being able to kill your other friends,
including one you were at one point heavily implied to have some kind of crush on. Also, I had little to no idea what was going on with control. I thought that the part of Selina's mind with Luna in it would be transposed to the 'bot, giving Selina a slightly distributed consciousness. (Hence not understanding that Selina would have a "kill switch" or that Luna wouldn't be able to use magic through it.)
Kyle...he overreacted. (And it's a bit odd that Kyle apparently agrees with Will that he's a horrible person, but hates Will for calling him a horrible person. "Damn you for telling the truth!")
Maria...it sicks that she broke down, but I kinda wish she hadn't just said "Stop arguing!" It was kinda dumb, asking Will (who tends towards the debative) to not argue about the circumstances of incarnation for someone who threatened to kill him, thereby potentially putting
his life at risk. That's not the kind of thing anyone's likely to shut up about just because they're asked nicely, not until they feel their life is safe.
A lot of people were weirdly absent. It's...odd.
<I'm workignon it blargh you should try joining #bay12lb on DarkMyst>
What's DarkMyst?
Kyle sits at the table disappointed like.
"So to begin todays conversation I vote that Luna comes to stay at my house as I have an extra room and she's unlikely to cause problems out in the wilds. Does any one have a better place for her?"
...
Didn't Kyle say he was never going back to Maria's because Will might be there?
"Well then how am I supposed to cut myself if I can't bleed anywhere?"
Ah, the old "Pound of flesh, but no blood" problem. I like the Klingon solution best.
[to Kyle]<I'd rather stay away from the three amigos who wish me dead after threatening them. Maybe in a few days.>
Will doesn't want her
dead, just more restrained.
Also, I'm not sure if him, Richard, and the other guy are really amigos, per se.
Soap operas tend to be more interesting. This is painful to watch.
Hence the comment about the low budget. Obviously the writers of said soap opera are underpaid idiots.
Hey! I'm one of those writers! And while I'm underpaid, I am certainly not an idiot!
Nooo @elf, not yet. I want at least one person to know sen is a demon~
Care for some previously-established lore about demons so you don't contradict something?
Well, people started arguing the same things here that their characters were arguing in character. Which sort of defeated the whole point.
I think it's more explaining things OOC that they couldn't explain IC.
For instance, anything having to do with Darnos. Or that didn't have immediate connections to what was being said.
Sexually transmitted demons... let's not give Kyle reasons to sleep with more people than he has.
I promise that no matter how much he sleeps with Sen, Nuriel, or, um...we don't have any other demons...well, Will's arm is demonic, and Abraxas looks demonic, but I don't think he's into severed body parts or personae. Or that Abraxas counts. Anyways, they will not make him into a demon.
Also, I just remember that he had a threesome with Nuriel a while back. Combine that with his fertility power...
That's why she's bound to the... STOP MAKING ME SAY RAPEY THINGS!
We aren't making you say anything. You're the one with his foot in his mouth.
Foot? He's up to his knee by now...
Also,
something important.
Remember when Angel alluded to news and Selina looked it up? You might have missed it, since it was at the top of a megapost overshadowed by the burgogeoning Lunar Body Controversy. Well, here's the summary.
Selina goes and checks a computer for Angel, her plan getting close to starting.
There's a good bit. Three major incidents in the recent past. Grandiose, a battle between Amy Hart and a few IRIS agents which ended up causing billions in property damage including severe damage to the Golden Gate bridge, and a woman called Murder Night using a sort of shadowy companion that seems to eat souls (along with a small army, but that's usually glossed over except to mention the few magic-users in said army) to take over a good bit of Africa. There are also littler things, relatively petty magical criminals, destructive magicians trying to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Strange or Superman, stuff like that. People worldwide are reacting, in different ways.
Some are fine with just letting it be unrestricted, like any human ability. Others want registration, so we know who all the people with magic are. Some want more extreme measures--banning use of magic, some even wanting to imprison or execute everyone with magic. The US is pretty much the only country to have acted yet, with a general ban on magic, but the law's definition of magic is...clumsy, shall we say. It doesn't really solve the problem...not in the least because those who were already planning to commit crimes with magic don't feel particularly threatened by the new law.
Selina has probably had time to share this and the implications. I think the characters should be worried about, or at least react to, this. And barring, that, I'd like your guys' thoughts.
