....except Mord relies on damage dealing to fuel his shields.

Dragon Knight is charging straight at him, putting him in range of all of Morde's spells. Spell vamp heals him for every spell he lands, and lifesteal for every AA, plus his shields.

So, pretty much, you've just made him nigh-invincible.
