you could say priests are experts in their own religion, doesn't make their religions anymore true.
No, but they don't have evidence now do they? Especially since religion is not history, or geology, or physics, or...well, anything having to do with the real world really.
yup.
if ICARUS invested actual thought into what Marie was saying, she might come to the conclusion that she does not have a soul, and that would unsettle her. Since it has no advantage of knowing that you have no soul, and since there is no downside to believing that you have a soul eventhough you might not have one, the overall effect is simply entirely removing a gigantic source of worry and existential dread that comes along with that question. ICARUS was basicaly just going (LALALA I CANT HEAR YOU) internaly the entire time, because she does not want to give Marie the chance to even instill a hint of a doubt in her mind.
and you gotta admit, it's kind of a mean thing to do and make someone question wether or not they have a soul, especially when that person is one of the first sentient AIs that currently exist and spends most her nights, unable to sleep, with trying to not be crushed by the question of what the hell she actually is. Massively touchy question. Just looke at what that got HILDA.
I don't think Marie was saying that. She was saying the opposite, really. "Yes, there are souls. Here, read some books on them if you care so much about having a soul."
yeah, but without a soul, ICARUS would literaly just be a thing.
Tell that to Marie's soulless friends.
No, seriously, tell them that. It should be amusing.
If he does have a soul he will remove it as it is unessessary.
...
You know, I'm sure you could find someone to do that right now, and Kyle could profit from it! Sure, he'd spend all eternity in some unpleasant place, but eh.
You realize that's like pointing to a bible for proof of an actual christian god...
How so? The Bible isn't God, and I accept the Bible as proof that the Bible exists.
