I watched the fourth episode of RWBY before class. I've decided that there are way too many characters with way too little focus. We didn't hear Yang's name until the third episode, and that stoic guy with, um, what's-her-name from the beginning of the episode didn't even get named. Also, the names come up rarely enough that I can't remember half of them.
Moreover...the plot is off. I agree with Ruby's issues with the method for choosing partners (probably) and with Jean's concerns about how they're being sent in.

She is slightly vain (slightly meaning she likes to show off her awesome fashion and will order cannon fire on those who tell her it's bad) and enjoys drinking. Especially around people who don't know about her condition since it makes them act funny.

Religious is fine. Calling people who follow other religions "heathens" indicates that he's religious in an entirely un-fine way.

EDIT: More RWBY commentary. A gun that turns into a javelin seems almost as stupid and irresponsible as throwing it at someone. Ruby pairing up with Wyss was painfully easy to see coming. Ruby suddenly has super-speed and is murderously--okay, manslaughterously--irresponsible.

Since you guys convinced me to watch RWBY earlier, this is where I'll note that the plot twist in Episode 12 was pretty much out of left field. I mean, sure, Jean was incompetent, but it doesn't seem in his nature to attempt such a major deception. Or to...well...not fail at it, between his apparent honesty/openness and his aforementioned incompetence.
Somehow, I liked predictability more than deep-left-field plot twists.

I'd say that of course I do, but I have a feeling you're either not talking to me or not referring to the real-world Crusades for the Holy Land.

EDIT: More RWBY stuff, from Episode 16. Yes, I know it's supposed to be a shooty-shooty thing, but there's not much of that, and frankly if all it has to offer is action, I'm not interested.
Anyways. Blake's revelation was also out-of-left field; it would have been nice if the White Fangs had been better-described before that. I had thought they were just some gang. Another out-of-left field thing is the knowledge that Blake wasn't supposed to obviously be a faunis.
There are too many twists being thrown in for the relatively minimal amount of plot present, especially when the twists have zero foreshadowing and often make little sense. And while I'm at it, how the hell are the White Fangs' VTOL thingies anything near stealthy? They should have been caught early on. Oh, and with the firepower Penny's capable of dishing out...well...again, I'm doubtful that any combat-based threat will be even half a threat. Ever.
