It's easy to recycle some basic elements of characters into new games and have them fit.

That is sorta what I did with Catherine. Originally she was just a character mentioned by her older Brother, who apparently lived in the city the RP he was from took place in. And then I decided to use her in the original version of RotMG.

I try to avoid that. I find it boring at the best of times.

What, making the same character over and over?

Three considerations.

1. I don't reuse the whole character, just some of the details--young age, female, the name, etc. Most of the rest is customized to fit the game.
2. What makes games fun is what goes on around them, not the character itself. That's why crossovers are interesting--you see the characters you know and love acting in different circumstances than usual.
3. You do it, in a different way. How many of your characters are inhuman (or inhuman-like) and/or nigh-omnicidal?

Counting the inhuman-like thing as what I originally meant it to mean...Darnos and Xan are not far from that template.
