That isn't much of an explanation seeing as it fails to explain why Ashley go through.

the two I have in mind are:
A- he was unable to until Shhys'm Caes broke their vow and freed them both to form romantic relations.
B- he simply did it for the sole sake of gaining a fusion of Creation and Void, a Gatekeeper, to gain more control.

considering the differences in time flow between void and creation, Ashley has already been gone for hundreds of years, and he probably already got a new girl going

Or perhaps what a person experiences upon entering the void only collapses the waveform from their perspective, that is, Void remains in a superposition of banging everyone and everything but Ashley can only collapse the waveform into the one of her scenario.

I don't see a reason as to why this needs to be questioned, honestly. But, if I had to choose one of your options then it'd be A. But then again, why exactly are you deciding the Canon of a relationship between two characters that aren't yours?
