I would like Maxim Novikov, as the bravest soldier. Give me the loudest gun, and send me to the front. I'll kick the door in, and shotgun the green little men. Or the other way around. I don't care, just give me a gun!

I'd like a female Machinegunner, no preference otherwise.

((I switched to the experimental version, for combat shields. The roster is different, so I tried to get the closest match for people. The base now starts less a missile battery, spare hangar, and garage.

Mr. Narrator is now a Canadian sniper from the Canadian Airborne Regiment. He no longer has the TUs for scouting, and I hate to waste a 61 accuracy soldier.

Sorry for the reduced quality .jpgs. Some of these are 1MB each in .png form, but a fifth of that as .jpg.))

Commander's Log
September 2nd, 1979

They've finally finished their analysis of our situation down in the lab.

You've probably already noticed we're being invaded, commander, so I won't state the obvious. The situation is bleak; none of the major powers are able to defend their own airspace, let alone protect the rest of the planet. [...]

They've split into two teams: The first, to strip down a light vehicle for battlefield support, and the second, to modify a soviet plane to fill a heavy support role.

Since our bunker is defenseless, I requisitioned a short-ranged missile launcher (The Soviets will love this, I'm sure), and an expansion for the radar array. The rest of the budget went into an on-site medical facility here, and a listening post in the center of the US. I plan to set it up as a secondary launch base when possible.

I'm sending in the paperwork to reassess our psych evals. One of the soldiers has taken to calling herself meatshield. She gave me a blank look when I mentioned that the point was to not get hit.

Commander's Log
September 6th, 1979

Xenonauts successfully retrieved a UFO yesterday. The first victory of the war. Our grey, large-headed foes, nicknamed the Caesans, are tough enough to keep going after taking a few bullets and a frag grenade at point blank range. Fortunately for Earth, they don't like that abuse any more than we would.

It started yesterday, when we received a call from the Canadian Prime Minister. Seems a scout ship got too nosy near one of their air force bases, and they managed to shoot it down.

Rather than carpet bombing the area, they gave us a chance at it. It was nearly as bad as I'd expected. 50% casualties, just from a scout. These didn't even act like trained warriors.

I've never been lucky enough to even be able to hope that we won't be meeting any.

The shield was useful when I used it. So either they turned down it's effectiveness, or she would have died without it! :O

Based on the uniform, I'd say the local force was that guy with the handgun, and was probably a police officer (white and blue are the standard police colors).

Also yay me blowing stuff up!

Posting to follow... currently running my own LP of an X-Com inspired game (see sig) and its nice to compare and contrast this game with UFO:AI. I quite like the cell shaded graphical style, even if it does seem to restrict your viewpoint to an isometric one.

Xenonaut me. For now, just give me a soldier named Felius with an assault rifle or sniper rifle. I'll figure something else once this one dies. :P
