Name: Ulric Karzaller

Position/Occupation: Mercenary Artillery Commander

Physical Description: A short, Stout dwarf with a neatly-trimmed black beard, with a short haircut to accenuate it. His outfit is a mostly practical officer's uniform, with a few personal touches to make it stand out from a regular uniform. A garish artillery officer's hat adorns his head, hiding his short hair. The hat itself looks to be immaculately maintained.

Backstory: Hailing from one of the stricter military halls within the Dwarven realm, Ulric comes from one of the many prominent minor noble houses renown for producing fine military officers for the dwarven military. While a few unexpected things came up that rendered him incapable of serving the military, he did what most sane people in his situation did: gather up as many people in the same situation, buy enough equipment to arm them, and hire a few retired drill sergeants to train them.

By the time the "Karzaller's Thunderbarrels" left the dwarven lands, they were as fighting fit as a regular dwarven unit: Disciplined, efficent and deadly. With strange and deadly weapons, they come to the human lands to make their fortune with the assumption that such a fortune would be easy to make, and they would be right in that assumption...

Name: Allighiero P. Di Giacomo
Trade: Guild master (merchant)
Physical description: a towering olive-skinned man in his late fifties, dressed in fitting grey woolen robes and a bear fur waistcoat, beneath which the glistening of steel links concealed over a barely visible white shirt can be seen, a strange contrast to his peers' fragile silks and linens. As he walks, heavy hardened leather boots and black trousers become visible through the robes, which sway in tandem with the black cape donned over his shoulders and an attached cross-shaped bronze amulet. Two rings, one silvery, the other golden, are displayed prominently on his calloused left hand, kept unobstructed by a pair of bronze bracers. His crown completely devoid of hair, a full grey beard extends from the sides of his head and chin down well into the waistcoat's neckline, enhanced by a slightly more voluminous moustache and modestly thick eyebrows, originally the same light brown color as his eyes, which seem to always bear a tired, contemplative gaze, added to the many expression lines above them.

i know this is referring to a long dead conversation in this topic but i would like to clear up a misconception.

The term 'Bastard Sword' is an alternate name for the hand-and-a-half sword that became pretty much the symbol and main weapon of knights both dismoutned and mounted. Any knight worth his salt (aka, properly trained) could use a bastard sword easily in one hand. And, by the beginning of the Medieval Late Period, the bastard sword had almost completely replaced the classic knightly longsword due to its far supeiror versatility, strength and durability. It first appeared in the later High Period, coincidentally at around the time plate armour (among other types of metal armour) was/were becoming more common for both non-noble professional soldiers and non-professional soldiary.

The bastard sword was mainly used as a backup weapon on horseback incase the one of the knights (many) other weapons (Usually a multi-headed flail, or a warhammer or a battle axe, among others) was lost/damaged/stolen etc.

Any knight expecting respect had a good quality bastard sword.

PS: Its a myth that swords were heavy. Even the supposedly super heavy two handed swords only weighed in at around 2-4 kg, which isnt alot.

Physical Description Height runs in the Heltanian royal family, with Lukas being no exception. He towers at six and a half feet, with a lithe frame. His looks are nothing to write home about. Flowing black hair is held back in a loose ponytail.

Oh, and I seized power by gently removing poor mad King Samus XV. He clearly went mad under the weight of the crown, he shall be cared for and kept out of the public view until his death.
