@Fniff: Nope. You have time enough to plunder whatever you deem worthy but after that i will still roll whether they hunt your ship down. You can of course stay and fight.

@Patrick: no easy way out for you. you are forced to move. If you stay on farmland it will degrade just the same as a normal parcel even worse Shoot won't get any money from it.

But if I spend 1 season on a parcel of farmland it won't damage it?

nope you will just eat the entire harvest for that season and thus any tax income derived from the parcel. And the local peasants won't like you very much either.

Ughhh, how do my people eat this much and not get fat.

How many cattle and horses do I breed in a single season?
Also is cattle common in the empire or is it rare in some of the nations that make up the empire?

Cattle is as abundant as in the real world in the middle ages.

Also your people dont eat the stuff your cattle does. and Cattle eats a lot. your average Cow eats 600 kilogrammes of food. per day. up that to one thousand and another thousand horses and you know while you cant stay longer than a season in one place and why buying food is expensive as hell.

In return your entire people are fed by them.

Hmmm, so I don't need to worry about feeding my people as long as I keep the cattle fed they feed the people and will continue to breed enough to replace the ones I eat.

How many horses do I actually have? I thought it was just the 500 and they were the mounts for my men, but is it 500 spare horses?

You could always take to fighting and raiding to get money.

Patrick: I'm not certain, but I think a regiment must be composed of ten identical companies. Trying to make a regiment from various individual mercenary companies and your troops risks getting you six under strength regiments instead of one full, with five of those having only a tenth of the manpower... Not a very good fighting force, all in all. Correct me if I'm wrong, Ghaz.

YOu are right Shoot and on top of that i simply won't allow it since its making things far to complex for my taste. If you really would want to do something like that they at least had to be all Cavalry which would then just brought to a common noun...in other words: 500 No Armor Infantry and 500 Steel Infantry would turn into 1000 Studded Leather/Chainmail Dudes.

So if I want to hire more cavalry I'd have to pick ones with equal armor to mine and give them my own horses? Recruiting from my own people isn't really possible unless a lot of those children were already close to joining companies themselves and so have the training.

You are a tribe you wouldn't hire anyone. Your traditions would forbid it. No real man after all would let somebody else fight for him. To get more men your tribe has to grow.

Either by natural growth (which right now would number around 50 men a year (that is just an estimation though, i haven't done the maths...yet)
Or by subjugating other Horse Tribes (which Survivors would then be slowly integrated but would for a prolonged period of time be a seperate clan/tribe)
Or by taking in Outsiders into the Tribe (which your tribe certainly won't approve of and will lead to some friction)

(( Ok, in that case I don't need a liason at all since I'll probably basically never actually pseak to you again Shoot, I'll be away all the time and the little group of women teaching your people how to breed properly won't really be an on screen action. ))

Wonderful. I intend to give you leadership over three parcels, of which you will get the taxes and the responsibility but not the full ownership. Your duty will be to develop these parcels into horse breeding lands, and to act as my representatives with the Windborn tribe. Although you would have no strict deadline to develop the parcels, I will be expecting at least some results within the year, or a damn good reason why it wasn't possible.
How reasonable is this from a timeframe perspective? It's likely going to take a long time to get the horses improved to a decent standard, but I'm unsure of the exact requirements, timeframe and the like.

Improving them wouldn't actually be very hard, within 2 generations your horses will already be superior to the current ones.

But I've added a new action Ghaz since hiring mercenaries isn't possible.
