In another embark, the area kept getting mobbed by grey langurs and despite them getting slaughtered by the dogs, one of them made off with a rope.

One of the monkeys mouth must have exploded or something because there was a big spray of langur teeth. in the area.

I just had a few kill my male dog, my 3 military in training stopped them before they stole anything, but nearly had some issues when they chased a few in different directions and directly into very cranky drakes.

My first fort fell to rhesus macaques! I still had only my initial seven, and I didn't yet know how to resupply myself with food when the monkeys came and raided the stockpiles. So in the interest of not having everyone starve to death so soon, I consulted a military step-by-step guide on how to get your dwarves to attack something. But unarmed, untrained citizens are helpless against most of the wildlife in the game, so my dwarves lost handily.

Ah, the old 'commoner vs. housecat' problem.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Monkeys are an issue with a fort start-up.  The one location has *giant* gray langurs and I knew that unarmed citizens or dogs wouldn't slow them up much.  So I had a few armored dwarves around early and luckily got an experienced sword dwarf in one of the early migrant waves.  He helped keep things under control while traps, cages, and marksdwarf equipment was prepared.  His luck ran out and one mangled his leg one day (nerve damage).  Afterwards he was put in charge of training squads.

well my squad was a civvilan squad so no weapons or anything just crazed dwarfs who want to avenge the beer about 14 of them
then again it was only 1 monkey

Oh dear, for some reason you remind me of one of my friends who also plays this game. Due to a single incident in one of his early forts, he has an unquenchable desire to kill (/capture to kill at a later date) kangaroos whenever they have the misfortune to enter his site. Lol, good luck with the monkeys. To be honest Keas annoy me more.

don't TELL me about the keas! ::) I abandoned two forts to keas! EDIT that was before i realised that digging underground was more profitable then making buildings on the surface but i'm pretty sure they would make off with all me stuff on the wagon before i even get three tiles underground
