Quote from: Ryzhak
What do you mean, Great One? Are we to purge the stink of humanity from this world?
Question the dragon

As you are forced out of the cave and onto the landing pad along with your peers, the Great One chuckles after you, "That is entirely for you to decide!"

Quote from: Katey
Fly

You fly south, straight out of the mouth of the cavern.

Quote from: HuangDi
Fly out towards the rising sun

You fly east, aiming for the warmth of the rising sun.

Quote from: Darktail
Fly in a random direction until I find somewhere of interest. Ignore any questions the others ask.

You fly north, going around the peak and into the cold wind.

Quote from: Levi
Follow somebody who's not ignoring me.

As you've not spoken to your companions, it is hard to tell who is and isn't ignoring you.  You decide to follow HaungDi.

  - All -

You are outside the mountain and beginning your journey.  Splitting up right away, you spread out and begin your journeys.  From the tip of Spinecrown, you can see for miles all around.

In Katey's path is a long stretch of grassland which gradually thickens into forest.  There is a visible clearing some miles into the depths of the forest.  The sky is clear.

In HuangDi and Levi's path are dry, rocky steppes which gradually lower down towards a shallow, sandy valley and eventually a jagged red-stoned canyon. The sky is clear.

In Darktail's path stretches far more of the mountains, jagged peaks and steep, snow-clogged valleys as far as he can see.  The sky is full of deep clouds.

((Directions and who Levi followed were determined by dice rolls.))

Darktail felt the cold bite into him as he flew, and the air grow steadily colder.
This is more like home already. Though those clouds look ominous.
Continue, lower so as to be able to see the ground more clearly. Keep an eye out for points of interest, and if a storm seems any more likely, land.

Quote from: Ryzhak
Which way do I go? I f I choose, I'll fly east.

((I hadn't given you a direction since you never actually said you started going somewhere last time.))

You fly east, quickly catching up with HuangDi and Levi, joining them.

Quote from: Darktail
Continue, lower so as to be able to see the ground more clearly. Keep an eye out for points of interest, and if a storm seems any more likely, land.

You coast down lower.  The clouds become more and more threatening as you progress northward, deep and growing quickly black enough to cast great shadows over the ground.  Worried about the possibility of ice-storms, you land in a deep cut amongst the mountains.  Down in the narrow, sheer valley you have ducked into, you see great scores in the rock all around you.  An ice-storm is surely brewing overhead, but the markings all around you very clearly imply this is griffon territory.  Griffons are a difficult bunch to predict--intelligent but feral, they may leave you alone, or take offense to your presence.

Quote from: Katey
Land in the clearing.

You alight in the open clearing under the brightening sky.  It is quickly apparent as to just why this clearing exists--sheep mill all about it, clearly the land of some baron's serfs or the like.  A shephard boy has spotted you, but he stands stock-still, just watching.  You are too far to tell if he is frightened, angry, or any other emotion, but he has not yet made a sound.

HuangDi speaks to Levi, but receives no reply from the distracted dragon.

 - HuangDi, Levi, Ryzhak -

The three of you come into sight of something in the sandy valley, close enough now to see more details.  There is clearly an encampment of some kind there, with tall tents of animal hide bearing brightly-colored pennants waving at their tips.  It is hard to tell if the people there are humans or some other biped race, of which few remain but are not quite extinct yet, from your distance.

The markings on the walls were ominous. Griffins were.... unpredictable. But they were not dumb. Perhaps they would avoid him. perhaps, somehow, they would even join him.
Stay low until the storm passes. If griffins start paying any unwarranted attention, try and convince them that you share a common  threat in humanity. If that fails, fight.

((Since there seems to be a bit of an absenteeism problem going on, and sjm and scapheap's characters are both by themselves anyway, I'll just do their turns and catch the others up when they post/when it's been long enough I feel justified in auto'ing their actions.))

Quote from: Katey

Look: *. You see absolutely nothing beyond some slightly nervous sheep and an awestruck boy.

Speech: 2+1.  "Morning!" you shout, making the boy jump almost a foot.  The last thing he really expected was to be greeted by a dragon today.  You keep grinning happily, with lots and lots of teeth.

Human reaction: 2.  He turns around and bolts the other way, howling, "Dragon!  Draaaaagooooon!"

Quote from: Darktail
Stay low until the storm passes. If griffins start paying any unwarranted attention, try and convince them that you share a common  threat in humanity. If that fails, fight.

Noticed: 1.  You are barely settled in a moment before you hear the piercing shriek of a watch-griffon alerting its kin that you are there.  Almost immediately they start to climb out from amongst crevices and dens hidden in the rocky walls, peering down at you with bright gold eyes.  Eagle-and-leopard, with gray feathers and white fur, these ones are clearly a breed that is hardy enough for the cold mountains--and strong enough to take on a dragon, especially in the numbers you're seeing.  This pride has nearly 20 members that have shown up already, and maybe more too far to answer the call yet.

Diplomacy: 4-1.  Recognizing that there are far too many to hope they just turn around and go back to bed, you know you need to make some attempt at forestalling any territorial fights that might happen.  You open your mouth, but the words stick in your throat.  A cough, a faint snarl, but your natural disinclination to speak in public is defeating your efforts.  You're the center of attention for a huge crowd--you just can't get the words out.

Griffon reaction: 6.  There is a lot of chuffing, growling, and squawking amongst the pride.  Feathers ruffle, beaks click, paws and tails twitch.  And then they bound down in around you, swarming in rapidly.

Darktail reaction: 5+1.  You stay quite still and let them come, recognizing, from your studies in the past, griffon body language.  Their tails are loose, their wings relaxed, their claws retracted--they are not on the attack.

Instead, they just flop all about you and begin to chatter in griffon-language rather excitedly.

If they understand my language:
Try speaking again.
'I see you do not come to harm me. That is good. Please, I ask that you take me to your pack leader. I would ask his permission to weather the storm here, and seek his aid.'
Otherwise, or if the above fails:
If they lead me anywhere, follow them. Otherwise, when storm is over, start to fly out - see if they follow. More landmark spotting.

Communication: 2-1+1.  You sit in brooding silence, with some vague idea that you wanted to say something but there is no way you're going to get it out.  You can't even understand what they're speaking; griffon tongue was never one of your studies.  They probably wouldn't even understand you!  Why try!

Helpful griffons: 3.  The griffons don't seem to mind as small balls of ice start sprinkling down all around you.  Their thick fur is impervious to the cold, after all.  In fact, a few of them make the frustrating decision to climb on top of you, in spite of your unpleasant scales!

Storm severity: 1.  That all changes in the next eight or so minutes, though.  The clouds, previously dark gray, blacken.  Visibility goes down to almost nothing--all you can make out is the highly reflective eyes of the griffons, and the glitter of ice as it begins to pelt down in larger and larger chunks, and then in broken shards.  The griffons no longer want to play out in the weather, and when a particularly large wedge of ice strikes one hard enough to make it squawk out, they hurry back to their dens.

Following: 1.  You try to follow along after a griffon to get out of the ice-storm, but the darkness and the ice flying about in the air quickly turns you around.  Suddenly you are alone, being pelted by chunks of ice nearly the size of your foot, in a pitch-black canyon.

Ice damage: 4-1(matching element).  Still, aside from it rattling loudly and bouncing your head a little in a way that makes you feel vaguely unpleasant, the storm isn't hurting you.

Quote from: Katey
"Could of gone better."

Fly behind the child, trying to convince him to stop

"Maybe we got off on the wrong claw, I not going to hurt you."

Following: 5.  You chase right up behind the boy, hovering over his head and swooping your long neck forward, head upside-down as you stare into his eyes.

Pacify: 1+1.  "I am NOT GOING TO HURT YOU!" you bellow directly in his face, grinning your absolute best dragon-grin.

Boy reaction: 5.  He drops down onto his rump and gives a helpless squeal of distress, apparently completely stunned and no longer sure what to do or where to go.

Noticed: 6.  All the sheep have gone scattering to the far ends of the clearing by now, and several birds have vacated the nearest edge of trees as well.  There's pretty much nothing left around here but you and the boy.

((Urist McDwarf, Pancaek, Patrick Hunt - please post an actual definite action for your characters or I'll auto you.  Following someone who hasn't acted that turn doesn't count as an action since it means you basically go in circles.))
