Going through the poison list, to be honest, I would've preferred poison to ice, somewhat. Here's two lists I find just by looking at OU poison pokemon;

Stall Team:
Roserade
Nidoqueen
Gengar
Tentacruel
Venomoth
Toxicroak

Roserade and Nidoqueen make effective defenses and set up entry hazards as well as Rain Dance. Gengar spinblocks and blows holes in the enemy team while Tentacruel prevents enemy entry hazards from staying up for long, and Venomoth baton passes Quiver Dance to Toxicroak, who also boosts up and then sweeps through the few remaining enemies.

Sweep Team:
Roserade
Gengar
Nidoking
Venomoth
Crobat
Toxicroak

Roserade makes up the defensive option in this team, Nidoking and Toxicroak blasting holes in the enemy teams where they can, and Crobat stopping stalls. Venomoth then Baton Passes some boosts onto Gengar, who finishes up with a sweep of the enemy team.

Whoops, forgot to post a number. Is 6 open? If not, just count up.

@Rolepgeek: Remember that OU allows Pokemon from lower tiers as well. They aren't normally used highly in OU (obviously), but for a monotype team you can delve deep for members. For poison, for example, I would definitely slap on Amoonguss for a defensive option, Scolipede if I wanted spikes up or a fast SubSalac user, or even Golbat for one of the best fighting/grass/bug/ground resists you will ever use. If you're looking for ice 'mons, well, there's a reason only 3 are OU. Walrein has a hilarious stall set if you can get Abomasnow's Snow Warning in play, which I'd recommend anyway because it lets you spam Blizzard instead of ice beam as a primary STAB. Weavile's pursuit is handy with that 125 speed. Jynx is 'fast enough' for OU and packs a punch, not to mention the annoyance of Lovely Kiss to shut down an opposing Pokemon entirely. (sans Vital Spirit or Sleep Talk.) With BW2's sleep mechanics, a sleeping 'mon is almost worse than a dead one if you have no way to revive it.

Just uh, don't use Delibird.

?

Don't?

Hmmmm.

The problem with your suggestions in Poison is this though; you can't repeat secondary types. So you can't have both Venomoth and Scolipede, and Crobat is just better than Golbat anyway. Roserade fills the role of Defense and Spiker simultaneously, allowing you to have a Venomoth to Baton Pass some Quiver Dances onto a sweeper.

For Ice, that does make me rethink. I would have to trade out Cloyster for Walrein, but it might be worth it. And there's Regice for a Special Defense, to go with Cloyster if I choose that route. Not sure who I'd replace though.

Heh.

So, ummm. I tried out my Ice team against someone else's mono-team, his was a dragon-type.

I lost.

We rematched, with him using his normal type.

I won.

Wut.

Wait, what? That seems like a needless rule. What's wrong with the normal monotype rule of 'all your Pokemon must share a type'? Is there anything unbalanced about having both a Venemoth and a Scolipede?

Crap. From the looks of it, Ice ends up being almost entirely Sweepers.

We don't have many defensive 'mon...and I don't see much of a point in having multiple physical sweepers.

Also, is using both Kyurem-B and Kyurem non-allowed? I don't know whether they share the same pokedex number.

are you implying stallrein (wallrein with leftovers, aquaring and icebody in hail) is not a defencive mon?

that thing stalls everything to death that doesnt have a fast fighting attack, it's a beast worthy of legend

and regice has huge special defence

ICBM pilot: good that you think monotype poison isn't too bad, 3 is poison. enjoy your hazards and/or stall

Barbarossa: didn't see you name any numbers yet, so I rolled some dice. Elektro it is. very good draw for a monotype tourney, elektro can very easily cover it's weaknesses, and easily cover everything that isn't weak to electric. if at all, it may be a bit predictable at times.

the rule for non-repeating types is just for diversity, I guess. I guess you can take it more as a guideline, if it really bothers you from building your dream team

now, to make my bug team

there we have the first brakets

I went for double-elimination again, to give people a second chance in case their type matchup was simply too problematic

Though I suppose you picking a random type is exactly the same as me picking a random type, on the face of it.

oh, didn't see that

6 is dark. good offensive and defensive options all around, mindgames with illusion, annoying status inducers, STAB suckerpunch. very solid
