You hand Noletius the Boots and explain that you received most of their effects in a flash of divine insight, and he gives them back to you immediately. "Such flashes of insight either just give you the name of an item, or identify them fully. If you know more than the name, then you know everything there is to know about them."

If I read it correctly, the X is however much AP we want to pay. We then get that many turns of flight.

Yes, it's supposed to be a variable cost. I wanted to keep the descriptions in the inventory list short. Is there anything I can do to make it more obvious?

Just have say the cost is variable, then later say equal to cost where it lists turns of flight. or something.

Buy a potion of Night's Rest and then do this.
Our stats are starting to run a little low, and having one of these on us at any given time seems like a good idea.

You buy a potion of night's rest, thank Noletius, who tells you that he may get additional wares as time goes on, and head to the entrance hall, and from there, to the final unopened single door. You open it and find yourself face to face - or rather face to amorphous shape - with a glowing fog.

Knowing that the fog is mobile, if slow-moving, you decide to stride  towards its center and slash at it, but to no avail. On the other hand, you don't feel its strange bite, either. Your next attack is somewhat more successful, though it is hard to judge how wounded a fog really is. The biting sensation comes over you, again, though relatively mildly, but enough to throw off your aim, and the irritating biting continues, stronger. Gritting your teeth, you finally connect with the core again, and in fact manage to make the mist disperse.

Looking over the room, you see the by now familiar different tiles, a worn bag in a corner, and two guillotine traps over two of the doors, one of them a bit rusty.



Wait, will flying set off traps?
(It depends on the trap - flying will help you against floor plate traps or low tripwires like the one by Noletius's tent or the lightning trap in the room with the unopened chest. It won't help against traps triggered by, for example, opening something, certain magical traps, or denser tripwires.)
