You slowly move to the corpse, careful not to trigger the trap in case it has reset, and see that his or her backpack has survived, at least. The glowing fog wallows a bit closer, and you feel a biting sensation that you nonetheless manage to shake off.


Recognizing this as an attack by the fog entity, you charge at the shapeless center and bring down your blade on it, its insubstantial nature apparently not protecting it at this time.

Can we... can we sacrifice that foggy thing? If yes, do so. If no, loot-and-leave-time.
Obviously proceed to the later part of the suggestion, should we be able to sacrifice that... thing, to "   ". Equip anything that is in that backpack if we do not have anything that already covers the slot. Else, southwards it is.

Can this thing be sacrificed? Maybe so... but as you ponder that, it manages to get a 'bite' in. Somehow. You're not quite sure how this fog attacks. Either way, you strike to retaliate, and again you strike true, this time dissipating the fog... entirely. Nothing to sacrifice left.

You go to loot the dead adventurer. Apart from nine silver coins, you find golden figurine of a rat, removably mounted on a heptagonal disk, and a shred of paper. You read "rat ... five ... fits ..."

As you begin to make for the door, the heptagonal disk detaches from the rat figurine. Huh. Looks like the dead adventurer tried to cheat the figurine on the disk with some hardening substance, and now that substance is crumbling away.



The room to the south is a larger one again, with two cometgloom renders hovering by a chest.

You don't have to wait long for the first render to hover through the doorway, and you charge it, and almost cleave it in half. It retaliates with a quick jab at your ]stomach, leaving bloody gashes with its claws. Your next swing neatly decapitates the beast, the glowing head darkening even before it hits the ground. The second render is close behind, and you notice its claws glow before it attacks you - but perhaps fortunately for you, it misses, and the glow subsides. Taking no chances, you hack at the monster, but don't quite manage to kill it. The render attacks again, this time without any glow, but still leaving painful stripes, not quite enough to throw off your aim. The second render falls before you with a gashing would through its chest.

After performing the sacrifice rites for " ", you go back to that room. On the second glance, there doesn't seem to be much more in the room than the chest and those different tiles. Now that you think of it, and aren't distracting yourself with frozen lava nonsense, they simply seem to be more ornate variants of the white tiles you've already seen.
