(Yes, the skulls are corpses, as they've been in previous updates.)

You charge the worm closer to the door, and gruesomely shmash it to pieces, and only belatedly realize that something struck at you and missed. Turning around, you see the arm of the statue you just passed slowly rising up again. Kinne, meanwhile, barely misses the worm she attacked, and grimaces. The worm backs away into the corner and shoots its ray of light at her, but to her relief, it misses by quite a margin.

You don't have the breath to charge the final worm (and even if you had, you couldn't reach it yet), so you stride towards it instead. So does Kinne, who does reach it, but misses once more. The worm again moves and shoots its light at Kinne, but she is ready to avoid it. The two of you move in further to catch the monster, and Kinne manages to connect with a powerful blow that splatters the creature's innards. "Uch" she sighs. "That took longer than I had hoped... but I see the door I came in has vanished... that means a few things."

As you start sacrificing the corpses, Kinne explains. "Most importantly, the huge beast that I met definitely can't follow me now. I wasn't quite sure if I managed to shake it off. Secondly, from what I understand, some rules of this place have changed as well. Thirdly, you'll be stuck with me for a while. My path has become intertwined with yours. Fourthly, that chest is trapped. You see that sickle blade?"

Kinne has joined the party.

She frowns at you, looks at the trap, and says "Okay. Doesn't look that bad. But if I die from it, I'm haunting you." She then gets to work, with a few illusions of the inner works of the trap popping up a few times. At a few points, it seems that the trap may go off, but she manages regardless. "Not my finest work, I have to admit." She opens the chest, revealing a necklace, a square disk, a disk with 11 corners, and a golden figurine of a flask. Kinne takes the items for now, then looks at the jars of balm you had found. "Nope. Haven't seen those things before."

Feel very free to leave out the embarrassing bits. Actually, be quite brisk about it - every second you talk is one not honouring "    " afterall. Should the way to the next sanctuary prove too short for this, its summer-camp all over again!

Rest, get to know, wonder what gold rations are for, see if we can get the disk and figure and if so try to fit things.

((Gold rations haven't changed - 5 temporary AP after rest. As far as you know, you don't have steel rations - there was no consensus to buy them. You do have the unidentified rations, though...))

You and Kinne make your way to the safe area, talking about you respective exploits. Kinne, in her "section" of the Ruins, had rooms with murals missing, and she had gathered other murals. She had worked out that the murals depicted constellations - different ones from the ones you've heard about here, though. She seems to have met fewer monsters than you, but mostly the same ones. She hadn't met those devourers or shades, but she did flee from a huge beast that she can't quite describe.

Kinne isn't quite ready to give you the figurine and disks. She insists that you wait until after resting - since they seem to be the key here, she argues, that what changed about the Ruins may well be connected to these figurines.

((Since there's no steel rations to use, use two normal rations, or risk one unknown and a normal?))

Eat an unidentified ration.
Assuming negative rations follow the same trend as the steel and gold rations, then they might just lower one of out stats temporarily. I'd prefer to conserve out gold and use-identify it rather than pay.

Ask our new follower what religion she follows.

Assuming that the chaos of this place seems to be rather efficient look for secret doors at the northern part of our save room. and the southern part of the room north of our save room, should we find nothing.

also: use our boots in the aparatus.
