Yes, I want to try to get this started once again (original appears to have died, and my attempted restart hit problems).  However, before it actually does start, we need to get some form of standardized time mechanic, just to keep RP at a roughly even rate for all players.  It would really be more of a rough estimate than anything else, and later on, it is likely to be ignored entirely.  Still, I think it should be made anyway, just so that players get a rough idea of the rate actions would be made in.  HugoLuman is going to be running a fortress to keep track of time.

Post what you think your skills would be in reality and what you want to see around (10 mile radius) the embark site (If you join after embark, I'll add it to the map)(I'll draw up the area when there are enough details), if you wish to join.  Everyone will be accepted.

Note: Going to start in the 10 year time jump that happened during the fall of the old fort.

Is it going to be illustrated?

Also, I think that a decent time calculation would be X/(Y+2), where X - default time (obviously higher than will be used), Y - skill level. Thus a 120-hour task will take 40 at 1, 30 at 2, 24 at 3 and so on.

I'm guessing that it is more of a freeform roleplay.  I'm not entirely certain.  Here's the second thread of the original continuation, so you can decide for yourself.

That calculation seems more reasonable.  I'll put it up there.

Statistically, on Bay12, the answer is no.

That said, good luck with this, I remember seeing the first one.

All depends on how much effort is put in.  For a time, I was making a map of the fortress in the second thread, but it became more along the lines of an understood layout.  I did do the upkeep on the map that displayed what existed in the surrounding area, and I am going to try to upkeep the surrounding area map for this one as well.

That said, good luck with this, I remember seeing the first one.

Yeah.  Too bad everyone in that one became too busy to work on it.  Still, two threads each with over 200 pages isn't anything to laugh at, especially considering the rate the second was going at for quite awhile.  Well, yeah the content was hilarious (Corai with an uzi and a laptop comes to mind [Note: we are not going to have those until someone invents them.]), but I mean in terms of size.

Tell you what, I'll run the fort. I've finished with all my other succession stuff, I've got 5 weeks before classes start. Let's do this!

First, I'll need the skills of the participants.

Well, I was wanting to have this thread be the freeform of the second thread of the first continuity.  You could run it for the 1st parallel, while this one is freeform.  (You may want to see the note I put in the OP.)

If we start with freeform, it will quickly fall apart, see the 1st time you tried this. The original thread was random, non-continuous RP until Talvieno started the game.

Well, if I get a time system standardized for actions, then that won't be as much of a problem.  Really, that probably would have come together if more time was put into it, or if there was a general time system, which is why we were going to use the fort in the first place.  Of course, we could use fortress mode to set up the main base area, before delving into the more freeform aspects, like the second thread.

Let's just do the fort. It will throw things at us that we wouldn't think of ourselves.

Yeah, that's simpler.  Edited the main post to reflect that.  Now, just need to wait.
