I had crashes (save that always crashes at the same time) with version:

3c: Dwarf Mode
3c: Orc Mode
3c: Kobold Mode
3d: Dwarf Mode
3d: Orc Mode
3d: Kobold Mode
3e: Dwarf Mode
3e: Orc Mode
3e: Kobold Mode
I never had such crashes. Random ones, maybe, but nothing that broke a save/world completely.

3c seemed pretty stable, and I didn't play 3d much, but I did get a weird crash with 3d after I'd been cooking along for a while... Then in 3e, I got a crash in worldgen using the custom worldgen file I always use, much to my chagrin! I do however tweak my install a fair bit, customizing it in various ways:

- I add the BIOME tags back into the creatures
- I put the less-outlandish creatures from creature_magical_ff.txt into creature_monster_masterwork.txt, and vice versa, and disable creature_magical_ff.txt
- I tweak leather/wood weights and values slightly
- I reduce frequency of rubble in inorganic_mineral.txt
etc...

I'll stick with 3c for a while, I think =)

Only times I've ever had a crash was when I went to generate a new world without closing and restarting dwarf fortress first.

One reoccuring crash in year 5 with v5e, one reoccuring non-recoverable nemesis unit load crash with v5d in year 3.

I ALWAYS must close and reopen DF if I intend to generate a new world, especially after generating another world.  It doesn't matter what world size is being used or what DF's memory usage stats are.  I feel it should be mentioned as this is new behavior as of.. C, perhaps? 

My world-gen crashes (which happen 9/10 times on a medium world) decreased drastically when I turned Warlocks off.

I have never had a gameplay crash, but my fortresses usually only last until about year 3 or 4 before I get bored with them and leave them to their gnarly, dorfish fates.

I religiously use:
Dwarf Therapist, Soundsense, Stonesense.  I occasionally use DFhack.

I still get a crash anytime I start the game in 3e...so I really have not played it.  I get a few world gen crashes in both 3d and 3e mostly on worlds longer than 500 years but I figure it is mostly my pc.  That is not a big deal it just takes a few tries sometimes. 

I have tested it all quite throughly and never had any other issues in 3d but 3e using the same settings is a 100% crash rate.

Though I must add I still have a blast in 3d so if the next version is unplayable I'd still play 3d :)

Each time I've made a new world I got a crash, but absolutely no crashing after the first time on a new world gen. Sounds like the same behavior that Parhelion is experiencing.

My first MW fort lasted 15 years, and is still active. My second (to get the missing features I left out of the first) is on year two.

I had a 100% crash on 3e, on "start playing".  I could generate worlds just fine, but every one would crash before getting to the region select screen.  Removing add-splatter.plug.dll resolved it.  I also commented out dwarfnameadvanced and makeworshipper in the dfhack.init file.

I just tried this out myself and it seems to be the cause of my crashing as well.  Oddly the add splatter dll is also in the 3d version, but it looks to be more of a df hack issue..I just hope there is nothing too important in the dll if we just kill it.

I took out the dwarfnames and makeworhsip and moddablegods... but didnt think about spatter-add, it has been in the mod for a long, long time. It is needed for the poisons and runes that you can put on weapons and armor.

I got a save here which can hopefully determine a cause of chrashing.

Its saved on the day the game chrashes.
It doesnt always chrash, but when it does is chrashes quite precisely on the same moment, so its quite easy to reach the moments before the chrash.

For a fairly precise time of the chrash follow the dwarf Mosus Fikotlerteth who is getting some remains to turn into bonemeal.
Just about when this dwarf returns to the main fortress floor (Z-4) with the remains it chrashes.
(i've seen it chrash just before he reaches the level and just after he reaches it).

running 'clean all' before the chrash doesnt prevent it.

creating a burrow in the living room and enacting the the civ alert seems to prevent is.

Not sure if it will matter now, but i got dwarfnameadvanced to work by replacing the line
"math.randomseed(tonumber(df.global.world.worldgen.worldgen_parms.name_seed,36));" to "math.randomseed(dwarfRace);"
Try it and see if it will work for all of you as well.
