Ye may choose to try and find yer own items at town, subject to rolls but givin' ye some choice in the matter. Or, ye may just assume ye already have some, but ye'd only find out what when ye leave port an' the situation calls for yer belongings, an' then I'd roll to see what ye have.

Fer example, say ye joined from the non-player cast members while the ship were at sea. Ye say something like "Draw me pistol and shoot the scurvy dog dead!", but with a (2) it turns out "Ye haven't got a pistol, matey!"
