((...I can't believe that I actually started researching that for my post...))
Kyle decides to kill some time by pondering about the usual itinerary for Anthrocon. Well... there's quite a few interesting exhibits and...
GM Convenience Roll [1] ((Well shit. I was really hoping for a 4, 5 or 6 which wouldn't require a description.))
Let's start with the constructs, shall we? After all, they were one of the main attractions of Anthrocon. Constructs weren't strictly weapons, most weren't military units after all, but Kyle was somewhat knowledgeable about them since rapiers where practically rudimentary constructs and some weapons are designed to be integrated into constructs. Well, obviously a modified construct is far more convincing than a plush-suit wearing human, and with the variety of constructs, some of them where spectacularly realistic. External appearances were the primary focus, no need for any specific qualities beneath the verisimilitude.
For more humanoid furries such as vixens, bipedal armor-like constructs where used, often based off of more archaic military designs that were accessible on the internet. To modify a decorative suit of armor or humanoid frame isn't too difficult for any experience engineer or blacksmith, just removing and replacing some plates on the joint areas and integrating either a magical or electromagnetic rotational actuator. That should cover movement, plating that protrude too far will be removed and replaced by structures placed inside the armor. Then, gyroscopic sensors and/or stabilizing weights are placed to ensure that the unit can move without falling over. An access panel would be carved in and the unit programmed. Doubtlessly, some testing would occur at this point to ensure that the programming and motors work. Then comes the fur. Well, there are plenty of options. Fur or a fur-like substance can be applied to it, that's the obvious, simple solution. Another, more expensive option is to place an enchantment on it to release thread-like consolidated distortions, with a fine mesh placed over the unit so that instead of a solid fluff, it would be coated in fine magical fur. A third more technically advanced option is possible, by using advanced ethereal magic to superimpose a border construct onto the unit, realistic fur movement such as whisker movement and undulations during shivering could be mimicked.
Unsurprisingly, Anthrocon has progressively expanded its jurisdiction so there were other archetypical constructs. Less humanoid ones that resembled stuff like arachnids or demons used varying design aspects from constructs with similar traits. So while an arachnid-like furry (well, some arachnids do ave a fur-like hair...) would likely consist of a the upper body standard humanoid unit except with different fur, everything from the waist down would have to be replaced with a spider-like cartography construct and the two units would need to be linked together. Demons would be harder to emulate, spherical clothing would have to be worn by the construct and shards similar to aerial walkways or rapier blades would need to be linked to individual cores before linking into a core integrated into the primary construct.
Needless to say, at times, Anthrocon resembles more like a robotics festival than a furry convention. Hell, sometimes Itova's military gets involved just to showcase new technology and get some good publicity, though that's probably just an excuse for the more enthusiastic members to have a day off somewhere that they enjoy.
Well, shift change in about five minutes, accounting another five minutes for putting away weapons and changing shifts as well as transport, the first of Kyle's customers should begin arriving in approximately ten minutes.
((I'm assuming she cleans it using Maxwell's Demon since it's the most efficient for this sort of thing.))
Uriana carefully places the armored watch-glass in one of the containers that had been imbued with defensive-systems. Taking careful aim, she made a vague hand gesture in it's direction. The actual gesture didn't really matter. No spells aimed that way actually were specific about gestures it was more because it was psychologically reassuring. Several souls burst out into existence as a purplish-pink stream in front of Uriana's hand, striking the watchglass. For an immeasurably small instant, the watchglass was coated in a crystalline mass of solid air at absolute zero. A brilliant radiance glowing from the point which had been heated into a plasma. A resounding, decisive cracking noise resonated throughout the room as the thermal energy violently rushed back into an equilibrium, deforming the fuck out of the watchglass and shattering the tungsten. The container was protected by a subtle supernatural glow that quickly dissipated after shielding it from the blast. Uriana sweeps away the tungsten, and disposes of the watchglass. She packs up the flasks of viriophage and locks them away before closing up the shop temporarily. As she walks outside, she sees tourists milling around in a bit of a panic, there were posters on a few walls for some reason. A man with strangely white irises and a sword stood on the footpath looking slightly confused
Harkus witnesses a bright echo signal bursting out from inside of the alchemist's store, attenuating rapidly. Theurgy with ethereal magic. Without a doubt. Strangely, the echo signature was more similar to the sort of stuff from military test firings, it's distinctively high-amplitude ripples indicated it that whatever caused it had potentially lethal force
