Ask the Blade Inn nicely to join our kingdom. They'll get fair representation; we are a republic, after all. If they don't agree...well then, we do nothing, actually.

Having few troops to do anything with, Ardent has her scouts set out to explore the north.

Ardent takes a tour of the new tower in Masteria. She inspects the new equipment, and orders some of the guards to bring Niesish in.
"So yer the one spreadin' that garbage against me, ah? Well, can't say I expected much else from a limp liver." For the first time that day, Ardent places her pipe down, grabbing a spare bow and arrow. While the Sister is restrained to the wall, she gives a few practice shots at a target in the room, eventually pointing and drawing at Niesish. "So I'll take yer opposition to me as you being a supporter of The Enemy. I bet you laugh it up as you conspire behind the empire with my mother's murderers, ah?" She looses the arrow, just barely missing the shot, as it clanks off the wall. "I can't just let someone like you roam free on my turf now, can I? Unless of course... You make yourself useful to me."

The Black Sister remains silent. Her order takes the Grave Vow and speaks not to the living. They communicate only in writing or in chants performed for ancient rituals in long forgotten graveyards. You can't even read her eyes as she wears a veil, which you strongly suspect your guards may have been too superstitious to remove themselves.

After a few seconds it clicks as to just how silly the situation is. Most worshipers of the Black Dragon would seek or actively court death... and there you stand making death threats in hopes of secureing one's loyalty. The guards twiddle their thumbs and eye the door, clearly wishing to be anywhere but their current awkward location.

"Ah, this is why I hate dealin' with folks who ain't limp livers. Guards, get yer hind quarters out of here." Ardent orders, scratching her head as she watches the wimps awkwardly leave. She throws the bow into a random corner, plops on the ground, and takes a drag from her pipe. "Awright, we'll do it this way. You jus' badmouth the other dwarven nations 'n I'll overlook yer stupid little religion dealy. Might even sponsor it sometime if ya do a decent job, ah? Deal?"

Quote from: Miscellaneous Items Section of the Provision Request form from Ivan Tombstone, Phantom Handler

Requested Item: 12 Bottle of Vintage Mead
Justification: Grand Handler Nukal got transferred to lead that new warrior squadron, so he doesn't get to travel South with the scouts and I. He will likely die on the first raid! I want to rub that in his face with a toast of thinly veiled mockery...
Granted, Though Another bottle is sent for the escorts as well

Requested Item: Harem of 3 Concubines "Apprentices". Ages 12-22 preferred.
Justification: I'm traveling to the ends of the valley with only four dozen spooks for company. I would like some Orcish Company for the trip.
Granted, All within 16-24. Teach them well too, they're in line to take your job if you happen to die, or if we get more phantoms. All three of them look like how you like them,

Requested Item: Poison Frog Jerky, 10 Strips
Justification: I'm traveling to the ends of the valley without a proper medical expert. Should I (or anyone with me) end up hurt to the point where death is close, I would like to bring it about as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Granted, Sending twenty strips all in a rather colourful bag. No feeding these to your apprentices unless they're dying either. Poisoning is just cheap, and a quick death means they can't go out with a bang either (Heh.)

As the spring thaw arrived, the Norlar phalanx squads assembled in the town square of Rellardale. Though most of the great nations had signed a treaty of defense last autumn, including their target, their King was assured that what they were doing was right - in the best interest of the Races of the Garden Valley. What is right is not always popular, and the consequences of today's actions could very well be the destruction of their fledgling kingdom. To serve, and perhaps to die, was their purpose; and if the former required the latter, so be it. As the captains gave their orders to move out, not one Norlar soldier regretted his decision to join the army.

Two phalanx squads to attack and capture the Kasvaldni town of Ironspine Hold.

Harold knocked his boots against the door frame of the hastily built long hut. It was crudely build, the wood still raw and the logs cut rough. But with the great swell of fighters these day they needed more barracks to support themselves. He passed into the wooden structure. Swamped by Orcs almost immediate, he could hear their roars in his ears as he stepped onto a slightly raised dais that had been prepared just for him. He turned to the group of Orcs. The last ones he would address. They already knew what he was going to say, but they were all eager to hear him say it none the less. The armory was prepped. The mounts were ready. The camp followers were prepared.

"My fellow Tribes men. We and our ancestors fought and died for our safety and security. Just three short years ago we war plunged into the greatest war the clans have ever known. And though the strength of our arms and at the cost of our lives we managed to win the day and a better life. And yet, here again comes the darkness to our doorstep. A tribe of our own kin in the south threaten us. They insult us. They say they will attack us if we do not pay tribute. I say we won't stand for this! I say that we fight against these so call Orc. I say we force them to live up to the insults they paid us!"

Send two Phalanx squads attack and capture Earthshaker Hold of the Kasvaldni League.

Bormus looked out toward the lands of Kasvaldni. The poor bastards. Had Khaz'gar been more....amicable, then perhaps true peace could have been achieved, but now two nations marched to plunge the world right back into war.
And, most frustrating of all to the dwarf, he had not been prepared for it.
Bormus truly expected all the nations to just settle down and put aside their differences to deal with the dragon threat.
How could he have been so naïve? It was a slap in the face to realize that he did not have the means to end these transgressions.
Not yet at least.
But that was going to change, because Bormus Cragbeard wasn't going to sit around while the world shook itself apart.
The Mindforge Hearths had not been prepared for this war...but they were damn sure going to GET prepared.
And when they did....well this little uprising was going to be put down, fast.

The Black Sister remains still for several seconds before nodding her consent to the deal.

War Phase 1: Defense Planning
Game State

The spring thaw brings troop movements from several factions. The Kasvaldni League, known in the past as raiders and pillagers, seem to have returned to their old ways by sending the entireity of their military might against the unaligned human farming settlement of Sunrise Town.

With the Kasvaldni military units busy elsewhere, the humans of The Kingdom of Norlar and the northern Orcs of the confederacy decided to break the recently agreed upon mutual defense treaty and move root the raiders out of the towns and holds they managed to capture during the Dragon Wars...

Minstrels Everywhere Declare the Beginning of the War of the Broken Pact!

Battles in play this turn...

The Battle of Earthshaker Hold: The Orcish Confederacy are attempting to capture the Kasvaldni settlement of Earthshaker Hold with 2 Phalanx Squads...

The Battle of Ironspine Hold: The Kingdom of Nolar are attempting to capture the Kasvaldni settlement of Ironspine Hold with 2 Phalanx Squads...

The Battle of Sunrise Town: The Kasvaldni League are attempting to capture the Human Settlement of Sunrise Town with 2 Warrior Squads, one of which consists of Phantoms!

It is now defensive planning time... If you have any units that are still free to act, you may send them to try and thwart one of the attacks listed above...

The Camathi Republic had watched. And it had considered. And it had come to a conclusion. These barbarians, still steeped in superstitious nonsense about Kings and Chieftains, needed to be shown the error of their ways. The real truth was that the God-Dragons approved only of democracy, and the elected leader's power came from the people. Specifically, the magic of the people, their belief and hope enriching him. So the Arch-Scholar was able to make his decision. "We shall assist," were his sage words. And so the people rushed to do as he bade.

The Merth Guard(Warrior Squad) and Thacin Rhetoric and Debate Club will defend Sunrise Town.

The ranks of Orcs walked out though the snow. Several days ago two thirds of their number had marched out to the south to bring war to the doorsteps of the southern scum. These Orcs felt pride that they would be going into the rougher battle, directly against the forces of the Kasvaldni League. They did not yet know the the betrayal that would throw their comrades into a desperate battle for their lives.

Send Phalanx squad to defend Sunrise Town.
