Human traders in the new version

How do I need to build my road in the new version? Does it need to exit at a certain side of the map? Can It have turns?

Three units wide, uninturrupted, from your depot to any edge of the map. It can have turns.

I don't think the wagons can manage stairs. Maybe ramps, but I haven't tested.

I'm wondering if they can go down stairs as well...

I recall today saying roads were useless in this version... but that was quite a while ago they might be fixed now.

Is there any way to tell if the depot has caravan access? I built a road, but you don't get the +'s going offscreen to tell you so I don't know if it works or not.

Press "D" and it will tell you if it is accesible

ah thanks, and no you don't need a road anymore by the way.

I don't know if building one will make them come from that way or not.

Not sure if everyone has already noticed this, but...

If you are playing on a heavily forested map, build that road.

My first human caravan arrived with two wagons. D told me that my depot was perfectly accessible.
In this case, "accessible" means that the wagons make an attempt at finding a 3-tile wide path from the edge of the map to your depot around those damned trees, which, at the rate the wagons move, takes forever.

It took so long that the merchants packed their goods and left before the last wagon had reached my depot. I was never able to trade with them, as they were "still unloading".
