Hi everyone,

I know I have this fancy child-board of mine, so if people think this is inappropiate, I will move this thread. I never really focused on adv-mode and for the first time had a look at this board. A quick search showed the quite a few threads are from MasterworkDF players. I know that there are many issues with adventure mode in the mod, but I myself have no experience with it.

What I would like to ask the adventure-mode community is this: What issues have you found? What should be changed to make Adv-Mode more enjoyable with MasterworkDF? Any game-breaking things, oddities, additions you'd like to see, optional settings for Adv-Mode only?

greets,
Meph

I'm currently playing your mod, but I've gone in unspoiled and don't have any other experience with masterwork yet, so sadly, I can't give much constructive criticism yet. One thing I have changed myself, that makes the game much more enjoyable in adventure mode is to have all races build human type cities, so that they are actually present in the game.

I've been having fun so far, wildlife is lethal, (lots of firebirds and raptors) so sneaking around is the only viable option for my peasants. I already found a lot of content that I've never seen i  vanilla. Great mod.

The biggest thing about adventure mode right now is that nothing but humans have actual sites - and so everything has to have human sites. (They don't AFAIK)
Unless you're a big fan of having to kill Urist McBadguy in the Dark Fortress That Does Not Exist.

It's been a very long time since I've played this with masterwork, but I clearly remember everyone being completely butt-naked.
Which is fine for sieges to keep things more tidy, but kind of weird otherwise. It'd be better if normal 'clothes' were instead some form of armor. So that everything wouldn't either be completely naked or with a piece or two of armor on.

It shouldn't be good armor, but it shouldn't be useless cloth either. Though I'm not sure if that's possible.

Updating the Fear The Night parts could also be an idea, since it makes vampirism/lycanthropy/tomb raiding much more fun. Though the 1290-speed-cap-on-vampires-and-the-like detracts a bit, but that's not the mod's fault. (I can only really, really want this to be fixed in the next version.)
admittedly tomb raiding still isn't all that fun, but it's better than getting marked for death like it is in vanilla

Ok, we have:

 - Updating Fear The Night (if outdated, last update was Apr 10, so Masterwork should have it already)
 - Clothing for all civs, at least shirt/pants.
 - Human Sites (next DF update should fix this, but how would I do it atm, in terms of Raw-Modding?)
 - Wildlife seems quite lethal.

I personally know that the additional attacks that are clones with only a different attack-verb are unecessary in Adv-Mode, so they could be toggled.

Stop Titans from spamming infinite webs? I had to use dfhack to kill one because neither I nor it was moving and all it did was spam webs. For TWO DAYS.

I don't really have a problem with the wildlife, I like a challenge. It's probably no issue for demigods so people can already pick a difficulty they like.
On how to change the site type; there's a setting in the entity files, I think it's called 'default_site_type' this should be changed from whatever it is set to, to CITY, below that are some settings for the types of sites they like, you might have to change those too. I think kobold sites are also present on the map in the current version, but they are hard to find, the kobold site name is CAVE.

The nakedness of everybody is indeed annoying, forgot to mention that.

I cant mod titans.

Mh.. changing sites affects fortress mode quite a bit, so I'd have to make this optional, by default off, so it does not interfere with people that play FortMode.

Taking a look at the adventurer knapping reactions wouldn't hurt. Not really sure what changes you should make, but those with more adventurer experience might be able to suggest useful or commonplace things.

We do have AdvFort, but that can be time consuming sometimes.

I'm not sure if it's just the way I generate my worlds but whenever I create a new world there are only a few vampires alive at any point in time. I use legends viewer to track them down and a lot of times they are even extinct. I don't really know if there is a way to mod that or if its an issue for anyone else but I've found it nearly impossible to get a vampire adventurer.

The only animals I seem to encounter are raptors. Regular raptors and very rarely dragon raptors.

There is rarely anything else in the surface and silly woodland critters like rabbits and stuff appear to be completely gone so its pretty hard to get meat when you aren't strong enough to murder entire packs of raptors or patient enough to chuck salt pebbles until they die.

I have some but not ridiculously enormous amounts. quite fun knocking cranes out the sky by throwing stuff at them (found 3 of them in a short space of time), 3 sets of raptors (fled from), 2-3 bunches of foul blendecs, 2x sets of cheetahs, and various snakes.

Bit confused why my dwarf starts in some form of weird race's area. Trying to find some equipment.

Must admit though, i haven't tried much of adventure mode.

I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.

Edit: This is with fortress defense mode ON. I have also noticed a large amount of towns are abandoned (possibly been killed by sieges?)

Got a bit of a problem.
Lack of human settlements.

This means trading is difficult and generally if i play, i want to be a dwarf, so that in the 1% situation i survive, i might 1 day meet myself playing fortress mode as a migrant.

Do other towns trade? i've yet to see any which do.
The other point in lack of human settlements, is that due to not being able to talk to the many other random settlements out there (i doubt linguistic ability lets you talk to them does it?!) i cannot receive quests to go and hunt bandits or whatever.

Also, even if you choose a different race, you cannot speak with your own race.

For example, i just gaveup an adventurer, partly cos i just lost a leg to a crocodile (lol) but before i went i found a nice trading town for frogmen.
So i decided heck, lets choose a frogman then so i can recruit some.

Cannot speak to them. Amusingly though, my legless axedwarf adventurer had taken over one of the shops (WTF?!) whom i could speak to (as a frogman) and buy cloth off of!

For the purposes of adventure mode, we kinda need all races to have human/dwarfish talking, so that i can interact with them, or make it at least so that if i choose a different race, i can understand the same race but not humans/dwarves.

I agree. The wildlife is fiendishly difficult to survive.  From pegasus' flying boots to the head (wah wah) to packs of up to five fire birds and indestructible granite gargoyles, it's a wonder any village anywhere survives at all.  Look at my "Timeline Challenge" world to see more examples of this.

I genned a custom world and actually encountered other creatures besides raptors.

But a sea monster ambushed me... in a hill. I just ran in circles around it laughing until it air-drowned :D

So I take it that there is not much interest?
