Area types and monster attacks

Which of all the areas has the nastiest monsters? I just started a game in a Terrifying area, and have only been attacked once in three hours by rhesus macacques.

Would a sinister or haunted map be better if my goal is to be raided by tons of monsters?

Someone gave a story about being attacked by werewolves on a sinister map.  That might be your best bet. =)

Try peaceful. You'll get stomped on by a horde of unicorns and elephants, which are absolutely deadly.
