I don't see how that is a mockery

Read his post again. He literally posted a troll face when he joined. If that is not a pretty clear sign, even ignoring everything underlying this, that he is mocking the pact. I don't know what is.

besides the Illuminated one takes treaties, pacts and oaths VERY seriously

I am honestly surprised you don't see this as more reason to side against Taricus. I'm sorry if you want to lock your nation into a bad course because you feel your pact with him is more important then your pledge for peace in the valley and your pact with me.

I signed a pact do DEFEND ones who signed and are attacked and RETALIATE against the attackers, i also SWORE to do the same thing regardless of pacts, i dont see how helping you is fulfilling my oaths here cript, YOU are the aggressor

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

You agreed with me to try to Demilitarize Taricus. He specifically refused to do so even after entering your pact.

The Confederacy of light Seconds the motion to Demilitarize the Kasvaldni League, until such a time as they can work towards peace

Yet who is the one warmongering against another faction this very turn Cript. Explain how you can want peace when you break it so easily over a few words.

This is not quite fair. As the NPCs certainly count as a faction (or even a whole lot of factions). I don't see why my pledge to protect peace in the valley does not include them.

We never got that demiliterizing thing off the ground, we abandonded it as unfeasable, and right now I have both an oath and a treaty which say i need to side with taricus

Let me ask you, RPgeek: Based on how Taricus has been acting so far, do you trust him not to stab you in the back in some later conflict? He's roleplaying, and his character is only concerned with death.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Meanwhile, I have already stated that Cript and I do this because we believe it will make the Valley safer for all nations concerned. As far as tangible gains, Taricus has a third town. If you help us, it's yours. If he takes the NPC town he's attacking this turn, you can have that one, too.

So here's my unbiased view of the situation.

The Orcish Confederacy misinterpreted and was aggravated by comments made by the Kasvaldni League. None of which were threats, just observations and suggestions. They subsequently acted in an extremely hostile manner towards the League, including suggesting a declaration of war

They also signed the pact, as did the League, and immediately afterwards made it obvious that their words meant nothing. They did this by attacking with a far superior force, as punishment for something they believed Kasvaldni would do in the future, and there were no signs of them doing beyond their responses to the Confederacy's hostility.

The Confederacy also declared they thought peace was the way to go. Didn't say anything about a pledge to protect peace.

Not to mention that a preemptive strike on someone without anywhere near as many troops as you is not protecting peace.

FAKEEDIT: I don't see anywhere that says he's attacking an NPC town in the IC thread.

Do I care? No, not really. I didn't sign the pact. Just trying to make everything clear for y'all.

I just care about what incentives you can provide me to assist one side or the other. So far, the pact-breakers seem to be the ones offering the best, and in truth are the ones likely to gain the most, as a bonus of 7 to attack on a base of 20 is quite a bit better than a bonus of 7 to defend on a base of 50. Relatively.

He hid the attack orders with white text just to troll you all. I was going to announce it if nobody caught em.

The NPC factions did not sign the pact, same with a few players. I see no reason for the pact to apply that have willingly forgone the protection (Or were not offered to join it in the first place) If you had actually offered the pact to the NPC towns during the turns, I may see that you have a just cause. But because you have not even offered it to them at all, you have no cause for this war.

All you have done is bathed the valley in blood. And the blood will flow. And RPGeek, they can win an initial offensive, but it's the war of attrition they are unprepared for. While the specialist bonus is alright for building up buildings on the first turn, it doesn't help gain the needed specialists the turns after this one, which is where the war will truely begin. The allies in WW2 also had a rough start, but they won in the end.

Ande RPgeek, I used transparent text. And a bonus of +7 on either one is useful, seeing that it's a d100 rolled against the defense value.

You get nothing from the pactbreakers unless they succeed, come on taric and the rest of the people who's word means a damn, we can offer him something regardless of success/failure right?

Rolep, to keep you neutral and out of this mess, if you provide the scholars for it, I'll build you an archer squad for each of your towns next turn using my own craftsmen.

Lillipad: I don't have the scholars for it, but damn that's a good offer. That right there is really tempting. If you can make it happen somehow, I'll take you up on it.

Otherwise...
So, here's what I want. You're going to Bid for my help. And try and persuade me.

Bidding starts at One Town, NPC or otherwise, and 7 experts. 3 Craftsmen/Farmers, 1 Farmer/Craftsman, 1 Scholar, and 2 Fighters.

Well within both side's price range.

Let the bidding begin(and a note, I consider a town worth 6 experts, since it takes 8 to make, but will take longer to receive)!

Sorry for Double-post but I realized I still have five scholars somehow.

Did I get the four I spent on research back somehow?

That would have been a clerical error on my part. I'll lop the four off my sheet.

Apparently this shot back into action right when I wasn't looking at it.

I'm in the treaty, thus I stand with Taricus.

Well, looking at your growths, you're likely to get two scholars a turn. If you're alright with it, you could send those three my way(assuming you DO get three) and I can do them all in one turn. Or, you could send me one per turn until your starting towns all have a fancy new archer loitering around.
