You shortly consider just coming up with a character of your own, as these fools obviously never have played any Dating-Sim of good Repute. Why is there no single Schoolboy/girl is somewhat beyond you, but it seems your superior intellect will have to work it`s way around that problem on it`s own.

After some additional pondering, you decide on Lana "Everywoman", but will tell the forum-fools you rolled her as result. Not like they can ever proove otherwise, nor truly will know. You also consider changing her job to "High-School-Teacher", for that would be a most welcome plot-turn. That actually sounds quite appealing, especially later on. Now you would only need to subtly change that "Hetero" into "Homo" and the Fanservice would know no bounds.

This Vision of your thread... fascinates you very well, and after some... inspirational soulsearching, you just decide to railroad it. Since you are calling the shots here.

Code: [Select]
Name: Lana
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual
Popularity: Loner
Intelligence: Above Average
Looks: Plain
Job: High-School-Teacher
Vehicle: Honda Civic
Living Area: Apartment that would be out of your wage if it weren't for the train tracks just outside the window
Hobby: Go-Go Dancing

Yes.. yes. Muuch better. This will do nicely.

[For the record, I will only count -1 if you have a previous +1 for that suggestion or made it in the first place.]

escaped lurker, No to modifying profile like that, players gonna be pissed....

So what? There will be no malus, because Ross is the only "Player" we need to appease. And unless this type of SG becomes popular, this is pretty much the only chance to be as much of a Dick-GM as you would ever want to. Trust me, you want to. ( Stupid "Sex:Yes Please" Chars, suggestions that just make the Char mentally Ill, giving obviously stupid or deathly choices, derailing, etc, etc. - This thread could become therapheutic for some :P)

Eh.. yeah. Trust me, you want to - if not you have not yet GM'ed ;3

On that note, the players really never have played any Dating-Sims of good repute, it seems.. :P

Edit: Ross, not really talking about you. Just my comment on the -1 that my screamingly Dating-Sim-ly suggestion got. One of the obnoxiously annoying kinds, that pop up every second weekend, have a screamingly shallow plot and whose - here comes the deal - only selling-point most often is.. well.. 18+ Picture content. Hence why I found it most fitting, but nvm.
( Actually, should someone be interested in quality titles, I will be happy to oblige some translated choices. That being said - Saya no Uta, anyone?  :P :-X)

[Yeah, I've never played any date sims or hentai games or whatever. I just thought "You know what? If I were a bunch of players with a wicked sense of humor and no sense of how r-games work, what would I/they come up with?"

Hence, Bumphrey Hogart and Rei Ayanami. I do have some general ideas, but yeah.

ALSO, yes, you are literally free to do as much railroading as possible. I will have a running Player Count and eventually a Regular Player List; for the sake of keeping the game alive, you already have two Regular Players who are dedicated to the game and are hard to piss off via DM-fiat.

You decide not to reject any ideas for now. The protagonist will have split personality and will randomly switch between all of those personalities. Of course, you decide to have the most 'normal' character idea act as the non-insane personality and have the rest as delusional, alternate personalities.

Shouldn't the "players" you've created actually be npc potential love interests while the "player" is a generic, undefined protagonist?

I think you are a bit confused about what we really do here... - These unlimited Players are "Forum-NPCs", while potentioally "In-In-Game-Chars" for romantic interestes and what-not are not even in creation yet.

Edit:
That is irrelevant. If you wanted this, you could have voted for a "dick GM". Our sin of choice is Pride, not Wrath- as the Railroader GM, we know 100% better how to give the players the best. game. ever!
Actually... I did. :P
But jokes aside, if changing so outright is seen as "too hard" for railroading, so be it. At least me, I had a great time coming up with that suggestion. ;)

No, if they were forum-npcs they wouldn't be asked to submit personal information like that because it wouldn't be relevant to a forum game that they're playing. The submissions are clearly in-game personas. But our in-game game is a suggestion game, and therefore has only a single in-game protagonist, played by the suggestions of many npc forum goers.

The "real life" personas of our npcs directing the actions of the in-game protagonist aren't relevant. So...who are those personas? If they're "in-game" personas for multiple players...then I think Ross might have misunderstood: the "in-game game" is a suggestion game with only a single in-game protagonist.

The only multiple personas required here are potential love interests. But it's a little odd that the "in-game GM" asked "in-game players" to submit those, and if those are what those are personas are, then the post announcing them is phrased misleadingly.

LordBucket,

All that "npcs" are suggestions of what PC should suggesters play, nothing else

You Are A Railroading Date Sim DM (as in, this game itself) has eleven Forum NPC characters. Out of these, there are two Regular Players, known respectively as "Scooter" and "Lana" as per the character submitted.

Both are currently Very Happy with the game, and are Actively Participating.

In-game in-game, as in the Imaginary Date Sim you-as-the-DM are running: Each of those profiles are what "the players" (as represented by me) came up with for the protagonist of the DateSim. There is only one protagonist (who you pick) whose reactions will be chosen by consensus of "the players."  "The players" will also input the "best friend", "pet", and assorted other options.

Ok, then with that clarified:

Start the game. Lana is a high school teacher, so have the game start with her homeroom class. Introduce a couple of the potential love interests in the form of her students.

 * A quiet, shy, smart girl with poor self confidence. She's getting straight As but other students are manipulating her into doing their homework for them.
 * A loud, obnoxious jock whose parents divorced and his father beats him. He take out his helpless frustration by bullying other students.
 * A comic-relief stoner who's failing the class. He's full of heart and has ambitions to to be something, but lacks the talent and perseverance to make it happen.

[I'm not sure whether to yes to all or wait for a greater consensus.

Split-personality gender-bender datesim sounds awesome and terrible at the same time.]
