You Are A Railroading Datesim GM: A Suggestion Game
« on: August 06, 2013, 05:13:41 pm »

[Before you ask: I'm putting the NONSENSOLEUM game down to do this as my "Sporadically update" game.]

One fine day, you decided "Hey! I'm going to run a forum game!" And so, you pointed your browser at this very forum, and began to post!

But first, a few questions:
1. Just what sort of game are you running? Strategy? Simulation? Building?
2. How will your game be on the following scales, from 0 to 10?
a: Comedic - Dramatic
b: Fantastic - Realistic
c: Shiny - Gritty
d: Simple - Complicated
e: Gameplay-Story
3. What is your DM style?
4. How many players?
5. What makes your game special? Is it illustrated? Are you a good writer? Do you invent your own theme songs, etc etc?

[To be clear: You, the players, are the DM of a forum game. I, the DM, am the players. Votes are decided by majority. I reserve the right to out-right veto any suggestions where you players are the DM of a game in which you play the players because that's too meta.]

1. Sort of Game: Homebrew DnD Abomination - No clear Version is to be gleamed
2. How will your game be on the following scales, from 0 to 10?
a: Comedic - Dramatic 8
b: Fantastic - Realistic 9
c: Shiny - Gritty 7
d: Simple - Complicated 10+
e: Gameplay-Story 3
3. DM style: Nonchalant and uncaring, you do not even correct fatal misunderstandings of your own, and should someone break your non-listed deadlines you just leave them idle.
4. Playercount: The Party started with 8, but 3 of them rage-quitted within the first 7 rounds of combat. Getting the Waitlisted to actually play, proves to be a challenge.
5. Game Special: It is extremly hard and uncaring, especially with your nature as DM. Only Sadists, Masochists, Elitists, Unemployeds and their various wanabee-stages dare to even touch it. A true niche-product for which certainly nobody asked for. But now itīs out there.

(Yeah.. really should not do those at night I guess. Fixed now.)

You decide to run a Dramatic and Realistic Datesim, with lots of partial nudity and a complicated profile system. Since you have extensive experience in the dating world, being a beautiful person with a sense of humor and considerable amounts of money, you decide that you will railroad players, but subtly.

You release a profile format:

Code: [Select]
Name
Gender
Sexuality
Popularity
Intelligence
Looks
Job
Vehicle
Living Area
Hobby

and three days later, there are three options getting +1's and one option you're not sure about.

2 Votes - WTAF
Code: [Select]
Name: Rei
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Yes
Popularity: Moderate
Intelligence: High
Looks: Attractive
Job: Pilot
Vehicle: EVA
Living Area: Oversized apartment
Hobby: Slaughtering Angels

3 Votes - Tran-Pan
Code: [Select]
Name: Scooter
Gender: Transman
Sexuality: Pansexual
Popularity: Unpopular
Intelligence: Average
Looks: Not Bad
Job: Fast Food
Vehicle: $300 Car
Living Area: Slum
Hobby: Tumblr

3 Votes - Totally Not A Parody
Code: [Select]
Name: Bumphrey Hogart
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Popularity: Your friends like you.
Intelligence: Quite.
Looks: Like a movie star!
Job: PI.
Vehicle: Lincoln Club Coupe.
Living Area: Inside your office. You're late on rent.
Hobby: Smoking.

3 Votes- Everywoman
Code: [Select]
Name: Lana
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Popularity: Loner
Intelligence: Above Average
Looks: Plain
Job: Retail
Vehicle: Honda Civic
Living Area: Apartment that would be out of your wage if it weren't for the train tracks just outside the window
Hobby: Crocheting

What do you do with these results?

You shortly consider just coming up with a character of your own, as these fools obviously never have played any Dating-Sim of good Repute. Why is there no single Schoolboy/girl is somewhat beyond you, but it seems your superior intellect will have to work it`s way around that problem on it`s own.

After some additional pondering, you decide on Lana "Everywoman", but will tell the forum-fools you rolled her as result. Not like they can ever proove otherwise, nor truly will know. You also consider changing her job to "High-School-Teacher", for that would be a most welcome plot-turn. That actually sounds quite appealing, especially later on. Now you would only need to subtly change that "Hetero" into "Homo" and the Fanservice would know no bounds.

This Vision of your thread... fascinates you very well, and after some... inspirational soulsearching, you just decide to railroad it. Since you are calling the shots here.

Code: [Select]
Name: Lana
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual
Popularity: Loner
Intelligence: Above Average
Looks: Plain
Job: High-School-Teacher
Vehicle: Honda Civic
Living Area: Apartment that would be out of your wage if it weren't for the train tracks just outside the window
Hobby: Go-Go Dancing

Yes.. yes. Muuch better. This will do nicely.

escaped lurker, No to modifying profile like that, players gonna be pissed....

My variant:

After some consideration you announce that you'll roll for every line of a profile, from the most popular picks

Of cause you just combine profiles to make the one you think would be better for your plans. In fact just changing the gender of the last profile and change starting occupation to make it look random.

Name: Rei
Gender: Male ( You have gathered a lot of sexy female photos and they want a girl?No way)
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Popularity: Loner
Intelligence: Above Average
Looks: Plain
Job: Fast Food
Vehicle: Honda Civic
Living Area: Apartment that would be out of your wage if it weren't for the train tracks just outside the window
Hobby: Crocheting
