We are going to become hashishins. This is Alamut. We're the Old Man of the Mountain Marsh.
Finally he says something I completely agree with!

Start growing! And now we really need those lowlife thugs I mentioned earlier...

Oh. my. fucking. YES!

Baron and Druglord? Even other nobles will grow envy if we sport two noble titles ;3

Grow the stuff. And, I mean "Growing".
But pu-lease, a good corner from the main-road. Not like we want to encourage theft later on. If we need the horse to do so, use it - else hire it out to some lumberjack and get our cut in wood. We want at least a shack prepared when those lowlifes come - or enough material for them to get themselves to work.

Aquire a few hungry "Dogs".
Use them as  Guinea-pigs. See how addicting it is, and if there are any other effects in the meantime. And those dogs better not be missed, if push comes to shove - make sure to pick up the rabble of the rabble. Do Remember to slightly blockade your door at night, who knows what other kind of moods there might be.

So... still anyone pining for a good and noble Baron?  :P

You discussed your plan with Arrigo. It turns out that the herb thrives under shade, and you think as long as you don't plant it under every single tree along the road it will be hard to eradicate or to actually steal the herb.

On the other hand, you start to think about your need of manpower. You need, in this order: people to grow the herb, people to guard the herb, people to administer the herb, and extra people for those who are under the influence of it. You think the only way to get so many people is to go to town, and you knew of none in the area except Daleston: not coincidentally, it is also the seat of your overlord, Count Mario of Daleston. Actually, you think you need to do this trip sooner or later, as by this time he should already know your presence in his service, but probably he just don't bother to send anyone over, yet.

In short, you decided to go to Daleston, unless a good alternative comes up, and you need to prepare for the trip. There is enough food and herbs to bring over there, but you don't have money. Arrigo nor Morfeo would be both bad choices for the trip: Morfeo is just too visible there, and you need Arrigo here to plan all the planting. Prepare for another Journey, Dominic Soan the Sober!

Inquire into further medical herbs.
Gather a few and sell them to the next-best "healer" of some kind, that you come across in the city. Roughing it in the stables should take care of the rest. If there are other viable choices, we might also look into cultivating them, but that is not our top-priority right now.

No need to bring anyone along.
I doubt we will be very impressive anyway, and if we are on horseback we can at least make "a run" for it.

Don`t get too many on-board just yet.
We don`t want an angry mob beating down our doors too soon. I say 5 mongrells should be enough for now. Better to have a slow, but safe start - than the opposite, ending with our head on a pike.

Edit: On a related note, we should sell that herb in that once mentioned harbour-city. For one it should be further away from prying eyes, on the other hand dealing that stuff primarily to travelers should keep it on lower profile too. If we do it right, traders will pick up on it, and do all the dirty work for us.

So would Dominic Soan go to Daleston, seat of his overlord and much closer?
or Consenato, which is further away and would take at least 2 weeks out and back (so he would miss out half of next month) but would certainly attract less attention?
He could change his mind right now.

I am torn between going to our Overlord on somewhat more noble terms, and getting it over with..

Considering that he might wring out more taxes if we appear to have already made something out of that swamp, I say we visit Daleston now.

Getting some people from the docks of Consenato sounds way safer than getting some from Daleston. I would wager some - somewhat - foreign people to be quite a boon to the sublety of our buisness later on, but that is a moot point right now. For that matter, we should never disclose our true Identity in that harbour, and make "The Herb" unrecognizeable by removing roots, seeds, and milling it to a paste. If noone knows where it really comes from, and from what it is derived, our buisness is far more likely to go unadmistered. Or unnoticed, if we do it right. Do press Arrigo to keep the whole thing low for now.

So you arrive at Daleston. Would you do business first or meet your lord first?

What lurker says. The harbour city. Also, we need to get some comely wenches addicted to this stuff, so that we can open up a hospitality establishment in the harbour city.

If we want to make assassins, then we must build a garden filled with beautiful women, let the young men think that they have entered heaven upon ingesting our drug, and then use that experience to control their actions afterward. They will even die for us to re-enter our "heaven".

I guess its Daleston here, though if there is overwhelming support for otherwise I would happily do so.

Oh, I'm set on Consenato... Visibility is bad in such undertakings.

Does it really matter? Hell, our lord will probably like having a group of fanatical assassins to call on in times of war.

Presuming Gervassen`s talk about the harbour to be future plans, I say we sell some of "The Herb" to a local healer, against depressive moods. And other herbs, should we have got some.

After that is done, depending on the time of the day, we should visit our Lord.

Do make sure that we look at least somewhat presentable - first impressions are important afterall. If he talks about our patch of land, be truthfull to what it is now. Tubber-farmers, an old deserted Road. Some light logging and very light hunting - or is it poaching? - inquire into that point, as you would need to stop that practice if it should be unlawful. It should also show that we look to please, or take him and his laws serious.

Else, be polite but not a bootlicker. Unless he makes it clear that he wants it that way, that is.a

On those plans about assasins and whatnot... sounds not bad, but depending on the effects of the herb we might just need to make them addiccted. But some kind of faith might be more foolproof. Depending on what grows in that swamp, we really might make a name for ourself as a place of healing. Might have some "healing" in it too.... ;D

Wow! This has gone off the rails quickly! I'm gone for two days, and we've become a drug lord... interesting.

I'm not sure how well this drug will work with assassins. It seems rather... strong... An assassin who can't tell whether he's supposed to kill someone or give him the lead role in a musical isn't all that useful.

Sorry, for a moment there I forgot we were all psychopaths.
Someone who has random urges to make mog juice isn't exactly going to care about the cost effectiveness of obtaining it.
