Author Topic: Should I pimp out my booze stockpile, or would that be superfluous?  (Read 1008 times)

I was wondering if it would make sense to place my booze stockpile somewhere valuable, like in a sculpture garden, with lots of engravings, etc.  Would they get a happy thought from seeing a statue while drinking?

I read a lot about this game on the wiki and the forums and I haven't once seen this suggestion, so my guess would be that it wouldn't matter.  But right now, all my thirsty dwarfs just sit in a boring stockpile.  Feels like a missed opportunity.

Does anyone else create a lavish bar or booze emporium?  Do they get happy thoughts from this?

You could do that.. but then they go slightly disappointed from not having a table or chair to sit at.

So you could do one better and make a royal dining room :P

They don't drink in the dining room, though.

They don't use dining room when they drinks. That's for eating.

I usually don't bother and put everyone in inactive squad to give them wineskins to save some barrel space and labor time. Though if one's aiming for high happiness, then having a lot of valuable and shiny things on the way or near the drink stockpile would be helpful. It's not as great as having legendary dining room for them eating, though.

Well, I put my drinking stockpile on the other side of dining room from the entrance, I suppose that counts :D

That's probably as effective as it can get.  A shame that dwarfs just plop themselves on a stockpile and drink.  While efficient, it does seem pretty boring.  I may just make a statue garden / booze emporium for my own sake, and pretend like it has some mild effect on game play.

It does have an effect, if dwarves get close enough and is observant enough to notice the statue or engraving! It's just not as good as eating in dining room, but worth something.

I just have habit of trying to get things running as efficiently as I can, which's how I end up equipping everyone with waterskin to reduce drinking time. Doesn't stops me from putting the stockpile somewhere nice and reasonable, like dining room :D

Place a mist generator above your booze stockpile, because this one has an impact on your dwarves' happiness while they're drinking. You can also pretend it's a cooling system for all the alcohol.

Oh yeah, that would be perfect since I usually put the mist generator with my statues.  I haven't bothered making a mist generator in awhile (the last fortress that had one was under siege 9 months out of the year and the attackers loved killing my watermills, making the whole mist generator thing very frustrating to maintain).  I think it's time to pull it out again.

I recommend you a dwarven water reactor. It's siege-safe.  :P
