Adventurer Migrating to a Fort
« on: August 03, 2013, 05:03:21 pm »

First, some context: I played a dwarf adventurer for a while, managed to get her far enough to slay some megabeasts and report it to NPCs. Once I was sure the adventurer had achieved "Legendary Hero" status with her home civilization (and got her to Legendary on several combat skills), I trekked to the capital site of her home civ and retired.

Now the question: Suppose I start a fortress in the same world after doing the above. Does the adventurer have a chance of coming as a migrant? I'm not sure to what extent fort mode's mechanics interact with the rest of the world.

yes, it's very much possible for your adventurers to later migrate to your fort, just as later adventurers can go to your fort and possibly hire your legendary warriors as escorts.

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

And then everyone melted.

This is only if you're a dwarf adventurer, right? I can't get a legendary human to migrate, can I?

Only main civ creature, unfortunately, I was hoping to get some goblins that got assimilated into dwarven civ ( not adventurer, just normal worldgen captures ).

I had once a world with nearly half of the dwarf civ population being goblins (after one Mountain Hall conquered whole goblin civ). There was a lot of dwarves with goblin names (children of the snachted), but no goblins migrating my fort. I believe vanilla doesen't support multi-race fort, except for the king.

And the king's buggy, according to reports I've seen, showing more like tame pet than a civ being in fortress.
