Striker listened to the explanation and the veiled question of what his reaction was going to be, his decision only took a moment. He turned to Septima and shrugged. "I suppose, if we are to try to be heroes, starting now is as good as ever." Then disconnected from cyberspace.

Before his main optical sensors were even online his arm was reaching for the P-Def Headshot Sniper Rifle that was in a locked cabinet on his wall. The locks disengaged and the door swung open at a signal. Strikers hand grasped the cool metal, it's weight was a reassuring solidarity to him. Striker turned and walked out the door, jumping out into the air he flipped the rifle behind himself into a container on his back as his limbs folded and readjusted themselves. As a Jet Striker took off, inserting himself into civilian traffic. It would be slow, but he could not help anyone if he got blasted from the sky.

"Oh no you don't!" Riu shouted, dashing towards the woman. She really hoped she wasn't running headfirst into an explosion, but the woman seemed less like the suicide bombing type, at least.

Rush the woman, tackle her away from the basket.

"Goodbye, and good luck."

Septima found the disconnect function on her third try. Back in her room, she inspects her rifle. To take, or not to take? Carrying a weapon could be problematic in situations like these.

Then again, she was a weapon.

So, she puts on the combat armor, takes her rifle, straps it to her back and heads out into the evening, towards the elevators, in a brisk pace.

Striker and Septima make their respective ways toward the scene of the 'action'-and, without the net blackout in effect, they can get a wider and much more worrying picture.

Multiple attacks. No origin known. Eight points officially denies responsibility. HOUND teams scrambled...

[Striker Random Event=12]
Striker flies amazingly free-the civilian lanes are quickly cleared, and though her fears being stopped because of his suspended license, he notices a small update in the corner of his senses.

He enters the airspace of the zone around Arclite, heading to ground-though as soon as he lands, he's stopped by a burly OCP combat droid who is supposed to be guarding the landing pad. Quote from: Oid Viruses
Various computer viruses that effect Oids can be resisted with a successful WILL check, otherwise damage will be incurred-at which point, WILL checks are rolled every turn until the virus is deleted. Preforming no action in a turn but concentrating on curing yourself will give you a +5 to your WILL check and successes count as double in regards to amount of passed saves required to ameliorate the virus. Successful resisting or merely surviving a virus will give you a bonus to resisting that specific virus in the future.

Nanoviruses are similar, except they are spread through physical means-and resisted with an ENDURANCE check.

Every Oid can also choose to perform a 'Hard Reset' maneuver in an emergency-which renders them completely incapacitated and helpless for at least 1d3 turns and has a chance to damage existing Fios and Chip programs, but will usually eradicate all viruses currently present.

Extremely deadly viruses-such as RUTIACS-are special cases where all these rules may not apply.

Riu's eyes darted between the device and the woman before settling on the latter. Catching up to the device was easy; she was probably one of the few people in a position to catch up to the woman.

Plus... she felt she was owed an explanation for all this, and the woman was definitely the brains of the two.

"Oh no you don't!" she shouted, continuing her sprint.

Riu doesn't halt, but she does change direction, her decision made in an instantaneous thought.

Riu Reflex [1]+13=14 Vs Fem Terrorist Reflex [2]+11=13

She catches up to her just as near the grass edge of the park, leading onto the street.

Riu slams into the terrorist with force that's not quite 'bone crushing'-crushed bones don't endear themselves to explanations. But, she is badly bruised-the woman is knocked down with a potent curse. Riu moves quickly to disarm her, only to find the woman has dropped her rifle and her belt of grenades-and raised her arms. She seems...oddly smug, for one whose probably about to spend the rest of their life in jail. Or face a firing squad.

"...Whatever, you got me. Proud of yourself, hero?" She says, her smile undiminished.

Analyzing situation... Options: Fight, Stall, Return Home. Return Home... inacceptable. Must not sit idle until situation is resolved. Fight... possible, but more information desirable. Initializing battle plan subroutine. Decision: Stall and gather intel.

"Polite question - for what reason is this area under lockdown? What is going on that the HOUNDs come down here?"

Battle plan subroutine finished. Preferable plan: Utilize factor of surprise, blind enemy with laser, then deprive it of flight and subdue in melee. Analysis of shield strength initiated, determining optimal weapon for penetration... Creating contingency plans... high chance of enemy breaking off after initial attack. Pursuit impossible, thus, retreat into alleyways and move towards the main combat zone. The chances of the enemy using missile launchers without heed for collateral damage are...

This programming was useful in situations like these, Septima mused, but it running all the time was more than inconvenient. Every time she met someone, the hardcoded part of her AI came up with plans to subdue them...

'Echo's wings flutter testily as she comes to rest on the ground. Perhaps to fly away-perhaps to open fire upon you. She resembles in most ways a large black crow, but almost half Humoid-your databases quickly pick up she's designed after a ancient mythological creature called a 'Harpy'.

A sudden tic in her claws catch your attention. Though don't seem to be really designed for combat, more of a utility function...but are nevertheless itching for a fight...It strikes you that this Oid seems rather unbalanced mentally-but then again, if she was like the recent stock of combat oids rolled out for HOUND duty, it's not surprising.

"...Let's just say we got a tip there's plenty of rebel sentiment down here." She says, her pale green eyes glittering at you suspiciously. "And they're hitting our positions all over the city, killing our people-so we're hitting them back. We know they've got infiltrators here, and we're going to find them, even if we have to go door to door. So we're not letting a bunch of protocol get in the way. Does that tell you what you want to know, Civilian?"

The HOUNDs must have gone insane. There was no rebellion going on here. Some sentiment, yes. People grumbled, and once she saw two faces she recognized all too well in the news, on death row... It wasn't exactly the nicest neighbourhood, either. But mostly, this was a corner where old Oids rusted peacefully, not a hotbed of violence.
When they left, though, there'd be a rebellion. And this place, too, would go to hell.
Septima couldn't stand for that, but she wasn't sure whether she could still avert it. Or take on a squadron of HOUNDs on her own.

...she was still going to try diplomacy, she realized. There was no way it was going to work, she knew that. She once used to solve these problems in a decisively more hands-on way, and she did itch a bit to put the upstart Oid in her place... but not in the present.

Perhaps trying to reason with her would provoke her into attacking. Not the worst of alibis... did these new HOUND oids still have automatic recording functions for evidence?

"Inquiry - how do you determine that a certain person is a rebel entity? Fair court trials? Forty-point questionnaires? Putting them on the comfy chair, poking them with soft cushions and giving them cookies and tea? I have to say the method your squad uses sounds a bit more like the Spanish Inquisition style."

Crap, that one probably went above her head. Anyway.

"A piece of advice - Make your commander call off this madness. Nobody here conspires against the state. But if you don't stop, I fear that those that were left behind soon will. You're waging war on the innocent!"

Stealthily prepare for the counterstrike. One gatling to go as soon as the missile launchers start up - would also be cool to shoot down the rockets if I can manage. Laser stun into gatling in case of a dive. Aim for a wing, to prevent flight, then ground her with a submission hold once that's possible. Try to not kill.

Striker regarded the Oid standing before him. He wondered if he was seriously a hound, perhaps with all that was going on some newly joined bruiser had not found the time to get proper markings. But perhaps not. Perhaps he could bluff his way past? Striker certainly did not want to get into a fight here, but getting though could be important.
