Maybe you can't buy weapons easily without spending the real money?

I'm not sure what to think about it. I'm not going to judge before I know the details, Rockstar has enough credit in my book to give them a chance.

No, the "real money" is just buying ingame cash. And the amounts aren't even that impressive. $15 for $1.25 million? The cheapest businesses will run you at least a half million, and the more expensive ones start at around $15-20m. And unless they seriosuly jack up the profits from them from SP, they aren't even a sound investment. I imagine the safe houses will be in that price range too. Golf course is $150 million at the most. You won't even earn that in SP unless you save the Lester missions till after the final heist.

Cars can reach pretty high, but from my GTA SA and IV MP experience, I've never seen a situation where a good team in a shitty Sedan (Aka Roman's Taxi) can't manage to defeat a team in a super car just by actually driving well.

And in the end, GTA game modes are more fun co-op than competitive anyway, and when its limited to 16 players, will the rare asshole player going pay to win really affect you?

I don't normally like defending microtransactions, especially when its not a necessary evil (I concede they ARE a necessary evil in say, F2P MMOs, and I'm more than happy to coexist with people buying items with real money if it means I can play without spending a dime, God knows I can't afford multiple $10 subscriptions to play all those games.). But in this case it really feels like, pardon my french, Rockstar is trying to fuck us with a very flaccid penis. Yes its an awful intent, but in the end it's more awkward and uncomfortable than anything.

Sidenote: Since I made the crew "open", if everyone who joins could just shoot me a PM with your account name so I know who to promote past muscle. Don't want to accidentally give random people who stumbled across us permissions

My only wish for Multiplayer is to be able to plan/execute heists.

Thats been confirmed IIRC. There's at least one that involves stealing a Titan from Merryweather. SUpposedly they'll be more involved than in Single Player too.

I know they said they'll keep expanding content into GTA Online, which makes me hope we may see a return of San Fierro and Las Venturas someday (a pipe dream I know). If only because Casino heists are the coolest thing in existence. And SF roads are the ultimate stunt jumps.

That's like, a scientific fact.

Trying to join the crew, some weirdness has gone on with my Social Club account since the last time I used it. :-\
I'll see if I can get it fixed... Otherwise I'll have to make a new one in time for release.

I don't see why everyone is up in arms over the microtransactions, other than it being the "done thing" these days to act like an entitled prick. Does anyone remember the microtransactions in Mass Effect 3? They worked perfectly. I trust a company as good and as ethical as Rockstar to not fuck it up.

Microtransactions can be done well, but I imagine the majority of people were soured thanks to EA's amazing forays into the field.

Microtransactions cannot be done well. Either raise the price of the base game with all content and/or give away updates for free and/or don't make the game so grindy that you feel the need to "cheat" by breaking out your credit card.

The best kind of microtransactions are the optional ones. Really, just make it non-intrusive and it's okay. You can talk about free updates and grindy games, but really microtransactions can extend the lifeblood of a games. Bad microtransactions are usually found in grindy games where it's basically a "cheat for real money" button, but that doesn't mean all microtransactions are automatically cash for cheat buttons.

Hey, if I need fuckhuge wads of cash to make my character look as awesome as possible, I'd rather not grow a long wispy beard whilst sitting on my butt grinding up the necessary cash. :P If it is just paying for ingame money, it shouldn't be too bad- although obviously you'll have people buying the biggest apartments right away.

Speaking of, any idea how those will work? If people can buy their own apartments/homes in the multiplayer, what happens if they enter a server where another person owns the same place? ??? Or do they not persist between different games/servers?

Ya, I was wondering that too. Maybe their just instanced, so any number of people can have an appartment in a building or something.

I dunno. I kinda liked Valve's hat store. Though well, that one went completely over the top.

You are really easy to market to. Just jack up the in game prices, slow down alternate ways to gain cash, and then offer it for real life money.

I still remember the day a server admin flew into a rage because I got that Pile of Hats hat (the top tier one with 3 hats) as a single random drop, and he had been trying to craft it for weeks. Ah good times.

Well, when it comes to detailed character customization...

...Yeah, you're probably right. :P
Me: "Oh, new guns and cars. Meh. Stat boosts. Meh. Extra tracks of horrible ingame hip-hop music. Fuck no. ...Wait, new hairstyles?! Oh man, ohmygosh, gimme!"
Yep. I'll admit that this is the main thing I'm excited about for the Online- customizing my character and just roaming around as him/her in the city with friends.
I'm already sorta daydreaming about what awesome features I'm hoping it has.
