And just checked out the kickstarter, looks like it's going to just barely make it. I hope!

Wow, fun game.  This definitely needs to reach its goal, not very far away either.

Looking in my starting inventory; "Half of a shield: Pretty sure this is the good half, but who cares as long as it gets you past the first level."   :D

It should be mentioned, the alpha is downloadable for free in a very playable state.

Found a book; "The legend of Drazzo: One elf, two scimitars, all angst!"   :P

FUNDED!

A worthy game. I hope people check it out. It's a pretty straight Roguelike turned up to 11.

When I saw this earlier today on Destructoid, it was about 7k shy of making its goal...  seems the exposure did it good, because it's funded now!

For $10 to get a copy, I think that's plenty for me to back. Not exactly a fan of the art style, but it looks pretty crunchy.

You don't seem to be a fan of many art styles :P

In this case it might be completely justified if you actually pay attention to it. Mostly it is rather inconsistent with both serious and comedic characters without an real balance between them.

It has certain level of persistence in the form of Dungeonmans Academy. Your hero can collect items and brings them there and if he dies, his successors can still access them.

Okay brothermans. Lemme sell it to you.

//Put the kiddies to bed, because we are about to indulge in some adultmans conversation.

First of all, let us talk mans to mans about some mother fucking persistence. Most roguelikes kill, they kill you dead, like dwarf fortress they kill you deader than shit and expect you to be a mans about it. Are you a mans? Do you like dying? Of course you do. Slash cry somewhere else panziemans.

Sometimes a mans likes to own monster fucking faces. That's a fucking dungeonmans. Jump kick the holy fucking shit out of baddies and do a 2 foot stop land and be all, "I'm the mans...what? Fuck you!"

That's dungeonmans.

And sometimes a real mans will find some shit he can't use, and instead becoming a bitchymans he just takes that shit and saves it, so later he can use that shit. Still, a real mans loses his shit if he dies, like a mans does. This shit ain't patty cake, this is real shit.

And that's dugeonmans. Recognize.

In a land of no heroes, where the cries of innocents go unheard, do you dare don the helm of thy dungeonman?

Embark on an epic quest in a procedurally generated world populated by dangerous dungeons and creepy creatures.

Chose from several archetypes and skill combinations or just build your hero from the ground up. Chose thy name noble adventurer!

Take the treasures back with you and build your academy, forge heroes through countless generations creating newer stronger breeds of heroes.

Get revenge! Will you strike down the slayer of your beloved heroes or will they remain unavenged?

Only you can decide the outcome... Only you can become a DUNGEONMAN!

Sounds like a generic rogue-like outside of the Rogue Legacy like aspect. Why would I pay money for this instead of just playing IVAN, Incursion, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup or Dwarf Fortress for free?

Frankly I have no idea either... It has a few good ideas here and there but frankly... I don't see gold.

... and usually most games at least have sort of the vague promise of gold if the stars aligned perfectly but this game is basically just going "This game is going to be mediocre and you are going to like it!"

The most unique aspects of the game don't really save it.

I mean Rogue Legacy was about having a legacy of adventurers but that wasn't that crux of the game. The crux was a challenging edge of your seal platforming RPG with fine tuned enemies and controls (if you used a controller at least). Even stripped of its gimmick (the Legacy) it still was a good game under the hood.

This game when stripped of the academy is a really typical and bland game that others have done a lot better.
