Magic: The Gathering Cockatrice Club (Interest Check)
« on: July 31, 2013, 08:06:56 pm »

Heya guys!
I've recently gotten into Magic: The Gathering and I've been looking for people to play friendly games online with. There is a program called Cockatrice which allows people to play card games (especially Magic: The Gathering) online. Recently the main website was taken down but there is a download available here. The card database that you will need can also be downloaded here. Make sure to download the cards_all.xml nearer the bottom of the page, so that you have all of the cards. You will also need to set Cockatrice up to use the UK servers also listed on that page.

I mostly want to see if we can get a regular rotation and maybe a few newbie or friendly competitions going since the majority of public online matches are against people with very specific decks and usually aren't very fun with the amount of cheesiness that I've seen.

So, anyone interested in playing some card games?

I've got a couple of cockatrice decks currently. They tend to be Modern or Commander though and I've so far only played with my skype/steam contacts. What were you intending on doing to organize it?

I've got a few decks on OCTGN and in fact entered PWYB to run an interest check on a B12 league.

I'd think we could do Commander if we get a good enough group size (4+ would be nice), draft if we get 8, and play Modern/Standard otherwise.

I'd particularly like to draft, as all the draftbots suck, and it's not quite the same doing 1-person Rochester.

Edit: oh wow, I just totally necro'd this thread. Sorry.
